I've played WoW, CoV and CoH, as well as Guildwars for MMOs.  I just bought Everquest 2 (with all the expansions), and installed it today. When launching the game it is updating.  Most games you can expect between 5-15 mins of updating after install.  I have high speed internet, and a massive dual core processor with 2 Gigs of ram. This game says it is going to take 24 hours to update.  Is this for real?

I have a 4 megabit connection. It took me about 12 hours. I went to bed that night and by morning, it was done.

6-8 hours is not unusual. There's a *lot* of content, and it's constantly being updated.  If you bought a copy of EoF, well, there's been several whole <i>zones</i> added as free content since that pressing.

Yup, EOF was pressed way back in October probably.  So your downloading 9 months of patches which included at least 3 new zones that I can think of off the top of my head.
