So not that I am overly surprised that it happened with Wizards being a favorite of farmers of heroic named but having Manaburn do 20% less than before really hurts! If they wanted to lesson it vs heroics that is fine but leave it alone vs epics... Wizard AA changes as part of Update #37
Wizard

Spell Reach: Increased range by 1. Enhance: Surge of flames: Increased duration bonus from 2 to 4 seconds per rank. Fireshape: Increased duration from 25 to 30 seconds. Enhance: Frostbound Gift: Increased duration bonus from 1 to 2 seconds per rank. Iceshape: Increased duration from 20 to 24 seconds. Enhance Concussive: Also improves casting speed by 0.2 seconds per rank. Manaburn: Decreased manaburn damage/power ratio from 5:1 to 4:1.

was upset to see the nerf too, but very least all classes end abilities that do high damage were nerfed. lifeburn, aftershock vortex, all nerfed too

I mean yeah plat farmers, but why [Removed for Content] every legit player over a bunch of %$!"?$&*" kers ? The tell spam block will probably reduce plat farmers a lot already Nerfing 20% of MB damage is huge I mean increase the recast by 20%, but leave our big numbers alone already

I suspect the reason this change was made was not to adjust the relative damage output between classes. Instead, I think the reason the change was made because too many wizards were taking that AA line. Each of the AA lines is supposed to be a viable choice. If one AA line is taken overwhelmingly over the others, then expect that AA line to be changed; i.e. nerfed in some way. Notice the other three AA lines were boosted. Only the manaburn AA line was reduced. (final abilities) Can you think of any way to make wizards switch away from the manaburn AA line that does not either reduce manaburn's effectiveness or make the other AA lines overpowering? I suspect not. If you do, then suggest it. The devs might just take your suggestion. I am amazed at how many people just assume a wizard has the manaburn AA line. They are quite surprised when they ask for manaburn to be called out in chat, and the wizard's response is that spell is not known. -Leucippus

ok, lifeburn i can see, that is free damage whenever you put it up, but manaburn you need to conserve your power through a fight and then use it. even in the best of circumstances, this spell is hard to use and not worth using. manaburn should have its damage buffed to give it an edge over the obvious choices of heat and cold. manaburn is only popular with farmers and casual wizards, raiders use heat and cold and these changes only give raids more of a reason to spec out of an unpopular power line and into the already popular lines.

This is just to try to make other lines mroe balenced. The ones I highlited are still useless AA's even with the change and hte other ones are not as good as the explosives line as it is. I dont' see many warlocks accualy picking any of these AA's.

MB is nice if you like to lower your dps so you can see a big number every couple of minutes. Should be praising them for FG/IC buff, responsible wizards use it.

I must admit that Manaburn made some heroic named fights way too easy. In that respect I saw the nerf coming a long way off. However with epics I wished they kept the damage ratio the same.

in practical use it dont really matter so much, its a big hit, good for farming, in raids however it has limited use and this change only hurts it over fire and ice.

Im all for these changes. Manaburn i dont really care about aswell as the fire changes(since im not gonna get fireshape and surge of flames AA) but i think that the Ice changes will make up for the lost dps in the Wisdom changes.

If this nerf would convince the raiding wizards still using MB that they shouldn't have been doing so in the first place it's actually going to be a good thing!
