With all the attention focused on the melee DPS build, has anyone tried maxing our INT out to like 700+ and just going all out casting with appropriate AAs, master nukes and maybe some spell proc items? I would try it myself, but I have been focused on STR gear, so getting INT up would be quite a project. However, Templars seem to be able to do quite well DPS wise with a caster build.

thats because templars get no melee CAs but instead a line to improve their smites.....

personaly i think it would only be viabble if you limited yourself to the eof legendary set with the 33% casting speed increase

I think a spell build has a lot of potential, playstyle pending, and ability pending. Take into consideration, -BEFORE- EoF existed, during KoS raid time, I did hit 1500 on the parse a few times. This was also with no items which added to spell damage, no cast time enhance procs, no re-use reduction procs, of which there is now plenty, and no blessings/miricles. And that was also when fanaticism stifled me... There is now better items for melee auto attacking (haste+dps mods), which I was also doing as I fired off nukes, many group buff procs like troubadors are better.. Much more going for it. The changes to give Combat Arts into to Inquisitors simply dumbed down our DPS output capacity, made it easier for anyone with CA's to just knock a few off with little/no skill or timing involved and put up some figures. It used to be an art form, trying to hit high DPS as an Inquisitor while juggling heals, keeping up debuffs, and managing the stifling fanaticism. These days.. yea. Like I said, dumbed down something fierce. I have always been saying, and no one has ever been able to show good reason otherwise, for self DPS output (only your own), spell + auto attack has much more DPS potential than CA + auto attack. The only defining factor is, at the expense of my own DPS, I can give the group fanaticism, and slightly increase the DPS of 5 people. Being able to do CA's while E:Fana is up encourages more time with Fanaticism on, which seems to appeal immensely to most Inquisitors.
