I was wondering if we could get this graphic changed for something a little less gaudy? you know like maybe a rubber chicken or one of those plastic pink lawn flamingo's? Maybe something like a stick with dog poo on the end?

The hammer is maybe the worst looking weapon that I have ever seen in my life, it doesn't even have the cartoon appeal that wow tends to bring out or the stylized fantasy appeal of a lineage weapon. It looks so over the top horrific that I don't even want to do the quest, and not only do I not want to wield this insanely ugly POS, but the warden I group and raid with is simply refusing to get this weapon. Now I'm not one to complain much about looks, hell I play a paladin. But for the life of me I can't understand how this weapon made it off the drawing board. I have seen some bad mistakes made by sony in general when it comes to equipment looks, I remember the duck stick, I remember the mage epic, I have seen the qeynos claymore and qeynos guard. I can even understand that there will be some people with an odd sense of aesthetic that may actually like these items, and whatever I understand that things like this will be hit and miss. But this hammer is a different level. To have a reached a level of bad that I dread the idea of looking at a weapon, I really have to begin to wonder what is happening - please if your going to make weapons that look this [Removed for Content] please allow some kind of option to turn the graphics to something that someone with a 50+ IQ and a maturity level about age 6 will find appealing. This is the first time i have actually ever posted on a game forum to complain, after being with EQ1 since day one, posting many times on many forums i find it hard to believe that I am posting to complain about a graphic. But what I would really appreciate here is knowing if this is the graphical direction of the game, because I am not interested in playing this game if this trend continues. I am not a hard guy to please graphically honestly. I don't care if you go with the relistic style that had been the mark of EQ2 at release or with the cartoony uber weapons of wow, or the Lineage/Aeon slick anime, nothing really bothers me. But I'm not even sure how to describe the current direction other then to say fugly. Please do something or tell us this is your direction so we can choose our games accordingly.

People can disagree all they want, I just want to know if the SOD models are an example of where the game is headed so that I can move on. I'm cool with the idea of moving on if they choose to make these decisions, I won't whine or [Removed for Content] I will just leave. Hell I am pretty easy to please when it comes to graphics, as long as its not so ugly that it interferes with my gameplay you won't hear me say much but when I hear people I play with say that they won't get a vital piece of equipment because its just plain to ugly? and I have a hard time calling them whiners then its obviously a pretty dramatically ugly item. Like I said though I just want to know if the SOD's are an example of where the game is headed because if it is then I don't want to put more time into the game when I could be starting on a new one.

There's some really neat looking stuff coming out at the moment and SOE look to have perfected some of their particle systems since I'm seeing more and more particle enabled stuff appearing that looks so cool I cant complain.</p><p>I think a person in SOE's design department loves huge weapons (a la Manga). On an Ogre it looks passable, on a Halfling you just have to point and laugh...</p>

considering years upon years of people posting for more fantastic weapons, then as soon as they do try to put in some more unrealistic weapons people start complaining about that.  Theres no pleasing people, I pity the developers.

Just because a person thinks something looks very nice or graphically appealing, doesn't mean they are immature or stupid with low IQ's. It's this attitude in games that ruins it for a lot of people. And to add, I personally thing the hammer looks very nice, and the soulfire firey aura looks impressive as well.

While I would like to thank the nascar fans for coming out and supporting their cause, the fact remains that out of about 40 people online in my guild exactly 2 of them didn't find this weapon incredibly ugly. If they are going to make singular  - must have - end game - items for each expansion (Im looking at you epic) then they should try to give them appeal to a wide variety of people. These weapons don't. I don't care if 50% of the population finds them awesome looking, if the other 50% finds them uber ugly then SOE has failed. If they want to throw some ugly [Removed for Content] graphics around on other weapons - as in weapons that people can avoid using - thats fine but putting it onto a weapon that everyone is going to consider a raiding must is one of those sub 50 IQ moves.

Your arguing the inane and obvious truth of the "everyones got different tastes" like somehow their is no way to please a large portion of the population in this circumstance. You like the hammer I get it, you don't like it being implied that you have a sub 50 IQ or that you have no taste, I get it. I just don't really care what your opinion on the particular artistic merit of this piece. their is clearly a large enough portion of the population that thinks this looks brutal that it can't be described as anything but a failure. Now I have never been a fan over the top models, but I hardly flinched at the fact that my paladin's relic armor is bright yellow, or the fact that weather I choose the Qeynos Claymore, or the Qeynos Guard I am going to wind up with one UGLY piece of equipment. Bad graphics generally roll off my back, but if they are going to continue to make weapons in this style then I only hope that Vanguards re-release is actually for a finished product because I would imagine with the combination of insanely easy game play and insanely ugly end game graphics this game won't have a whole lot of appeal for anyone who actually plays games like this for any length of time.

It's a little, how should I put, over the top, exageratedly large.  I didn't care for it at first, though I admit it's kinda growing on me, and I have received several random tells saying things like "cool hammer", so really it's a personal opinion.  I do love the glyphs on the hammer edge, the whole handle/hilt design of it, the particle effect, the only thing I don't care for is how over the top big the hammer-head is, but overall I'm happy it's a unique graphic, that is something different.  I can't stand when high end gear has recycled graphics of regular junk.

the qeynos claymore,guard and kilij are all good looking weapons, as is the soulfire ones including the hammer, yes the hammer does like a lil silly so what? its a game, would you like to run around with a pair of rusty daggers? or a ordinary rusty mace? like somebody has said i do pity the developers, people say they want one thing and others say they want another thing. if ones implemented the other complains im sure you can find an item near enough to the hammers stats that will suit your tastes <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> good luck

I will continue the quest with my defiler because the hammer just looks to ugly. Only if SOE shrinks the head size of the hammer to 50% or adds a /hide_weapon command I may continue.

All these weapons you can get from the end-game quest lines are all very well done. I love the way they did the Qeynos weapons, and I really love the way they did the Soulfire weapons. The hammer looks fine to me. I love the runes and everything. There is only one weapon I disagree with when it comes to the Soulfire weapons, which is the two hander, but the devs have already stated that a new version of the two hander is coming out. Don't go about thinking your opinion is better than anyone else's by saying "That's nice. The fact still remains... blah blah blah". Besides, quiting a game over the way one weapon looks is very, VERY stupid.
