is there a way to find out what classes are played more than others on certain servers?

You can use EQ2Players, but it will show you all characters ever, not just the ones which are actively played or actively used for tradeskilling.

besides you shouldn't do a tradeskill just for profit because each one has some kind of point where they don't sell much. Pick one you feel you can enjoy doing or am able to outfit yourself with. And if there was a craft that was the best everone would be doing it.

oh yeah i agree definitely.. I picked scribe so I could upgrade my own spells instead of paying out the nose to do so... but i was thinking " why not make some gold while lvling my tradeskill?"  there are so many spells that can be made and put up for sale, but that doesnt guarantee a sale... that's why i was wondering how to attack the market as a viable source of income in addition to harvesting and selling unneeded rares and adventuring
