First off, Are the expansions worth getting if your just getting started into the game? I'm a Collegestudent with a very tight budget. would it be a huge loss to not get the expansions until i was say, 25?,35?

Seconds question is, are there package downloads for all fo the expansions? or better yet a RETAIL copy. I heard that EoF contains all of them, but have not seen this anywhere on the box. My major concern with Digi downloads is loss of information via comp getting fried or something. do any websites keep records of you purchase? or is burning a cd the only way to preserve them if this happens?.

Thanks

Retail boxes contain all prior expansions. So if you get the EoF box, you will get all the other expansions as well.

Everyone will agree with me that it would be a shame if you do not get the expansions right away. Not only will you not get to see the Faydwar continent, which is awesome, but you will not be able to gain AA starting at level 10. EoF+ content has been very awesome from levels 1-70, so I highly recommend you get EoF.

So if you fry your pc or something just as disasterous, your account still knows youve got access, so dont worry about losing it.

It is however an idea to backup your EQ2 directory fairly frequently (I say frequently because the game does get updates very frequently), cos if you have to download it all again from the start, its gonna take a while. Now because theres loads of downloads this also means than any boxed set you buy will be out-of-date fairly quickly anyway.

If you don't want to scurry around looking for a EOF retail box, you can get the full game including all expansions from direct2drive as well http://www.direct2drive.com/6/4362/...lation-Download

I know - I bought it thinking it did, although I was pleased that the Echoes of Faydwer box added in the DoF that was missing when I upgraded to that. For a new player, DoF isn't really worth it - you just get a couple more transport options really, until you hit 50ish - but KoS adds AAs which you get from 10 upwards, and adds spire transport between continents which is handy, if far from essential. EoF is wonderful tho, the zones are gorgeous and well designed with quest rewards tending to be a degree better than their 'old world' equivalent. And you get access to some new stuff like deity worship which adds another dimension to your gaming. Personally I'd heartily recommend the EoF expansion - and the D2D or retail version DOES come with the other two expansion. Its not *essential* but I think you'd regret it if you didn't get it.

I would say that if enjoy the game well enough that you know you'll eventually want to buy the expansion packs, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't pick them up ASAP. If you aren't really sure if you like the game or not, don't bother.

The all-in-one digital download is your best bet. Honestly you will spend far more money buying things seperately.
