Hi all, I've returned to the game after about a years break. I have a 70 bruiser, which I'll bring out from time to time to work on his AA's. I'm looking to start a new character and take him up to 70 purely solo (has to be melee). I enjoy the durability of the fighter classes, and from what I've read on these boards it seems the Shadow Knight would be a great class to solo up to 70.

Do any of you have experience playing a solo brig/swash? How does a shadow knight solo compared to them?

Do shadow knights get any aoe spells?

Lastly, how do shadow knights stack up against a berserker for soloability?

Much thanks!

cant answer the brig/swash question SK's get abotu 5-6 aoe spells to use (that do dmg). They survive better because of life tapping and reaver line. So would say they are better soloers than a zerker.

SKs solo easier than Dirges by a large margin, but brigs/swashys are different animals than Dirges.

2) Yep, tons of them...6 that I can think of off hand. SKs are known for their AOE prowess (amng other things hehe).

3) I'd rank SKs above zerkers for soloability. Tons of healback/lifeleaches, dammage procs, DA, Feign death and evac are huge for this as well...etc..etc..

1. I also have a 70 brig .. its a fun class to play .. but i prefer my SK because :

2. you will get tons of AoEs later, and most fun with SK solo is to pull 8 mobs and AoE them down

3. only have a 49 zerker at the moment, and am not really in the mood to play him much, it was also more just to prove myself what i always say, that SKs are much better solo. Yeah .. i know .. the specials are still to come .. but till now am not impressed and its not that fun to play him like my SKs.

Shadowknights are great for soloing, especially after you go down the Reaver AA line. We do get four or five AOE's, depending on your AA spec.

My brigand isn't up to 70 yet, but I would have to say that they do not solo nearly as well as a SK. Any type of one on one fight, my brigand does much better than the SK, but as soon as you get extra mobs, either adds or grouped, it goes down hill fast. The brigand doesn't have the survivability that the SK does. The SK's mitigation and ability to heal make a big difference, and they have the ability to feign death if things really hit the fan. I do know that swashbucklers have more aoe ability than brigands, so they might be more viable, but I don't have any experience with that.

Ahh .. forgot to say .. my Briga was STR/STA speced .. so he had nearly the miti of plate and better avoidance, and also much life. So for soloing he never had problems with some adds

This shouldnt scare you off though, since sks are built for toe to toe fights anyway and actually like being hit by melee mobs and players. Sks.
