Howdi,

Signed up after playing the EoF week trial. Game looks great

First question is a simple one. I've just completed questing in The Forest Ruins (north of Qeynos I think) and have been directed to the Caves for more challenges. Well, I say directed, I've been told to go there but I have no idea where they are! Any clue on how to find the Caves area in question? Is it the case that you often have no idea where to find a different area?

Second question, which is probably just as simple as the first. I think my crafting skill is level 9 or 10 having made all sorts of stuff back on the beginner island. I found or bought lvl 2 and 3 artisan books and saw loads of new recipes flash by in the message panel. When I went back to the forge to craft more.... nothing new Can someone help me with where to go/who to speak to in/around Qeynos to further the crafting element of the game as this is an aspect of interest to me.

Cheers folks, and look forward to hooking up at some point with folks on my server.

-woop-

In each of the starter zones for races and in Qeynos Harbor there are a pair of bells. One takes you to the other such zones. The other takes you to one of three zones outside of Qeynos. One of those is the Caves. Outside of the tradeskill instance there is a merchant who sells recipe books. The merchant has artisan books for levels 2-9, advanced artisan 2-9, and the higher level common recipes for whatever tradeskill class you choose at levels 9 and 19 (the same merchant is the one you talk to in order to set the class).

1. You can get to the caves via one of the bells (you can find these in most of the starting zones-Nettleville, Starcrest, Baubbleshire, etc). Take the bell for outside Qeynos. There should be at least 2 choices, Antonica and the Caves. There may be one more but it's been awhile. 2. As for crafting you need a Crafting Trainer. When I did my training (admittedly some time ago. 3 words-wash, resin, temper) I found them on the Qeynos Docks. Go to the water, facing the water you want the building on the far left. Looks like they're building a boat next to it. They were inside. Hope this helps. Good Hunting.

To further your crafting profession you speak with the tradeskill guy outside one of the tradeskill instances, like the prior poster said.

As far as trade skills go you want to see your trainer. In Kelethin she is outside the tradeskill acorn, in the old Antonican zones like Willow Wood etc., he is at the top of the stairs inside the trade skill instance. If you do his set of mini quests i.e. making the things he asks you to make, you will get the first 9 books free. As others have said all the other recipe books can be bought outside the tradeskill instance as you lvl up.

If you haven't done it already, activate your learning a trade skill quest which you received in the starter area. You need to do this to activate your trainer. If you deleted this you can buy a new one from the trader outside the tradeskill instance.

Also, check your recipe book to make sure you are at the right crafting station. For example, if you are at the forge, woodworking recipes won't show up.

Cheers folks. Nice to know I've arrived in a helpful and supportive community.

Found the caves easily enough with the advice provided, and having stumbled into an appropriate craftsman (more by luck than judgement) I appear to be on a grand quest to make some sort of frogs leg sandwich.

Unfortunately on that last point I can't seem to find a frog leg to complete the recipe. Killed loads of toads in the Peat Bog but they weren't dropping them, so I'm not sure where I get one. All a bit embarassing as I'm not level 14 and chopping up lots of small animals for crafting goodies.

PS: I assume although I've been asked to make food the crafter isn't trying to make me into a chef. I had my heart set on being an armoursmith.

If nothing has changed, that quest results in a nice bag for harvesting, also.

You will always be in control of your path of advancement, though. Just be sure anytime any NPC you have hailed lists options that are crafting classes that you pay attention then (at levels 10 and 20).

I think there is an entrance to the caves in the sewers now as well. In the main junction that has the exits to NQ, SQ, EG and QH... it's a door looking thing in the wall.

I skipped the caves on my first toon because I couldn't find them - I didn't know about the bells back then. As a newer player, there are going to be things that you don't find. This means that you will miss some stuff, but it really isn't that big a deal. Just consider your first toon a practice toon to get to know the general layout, and an idea of how the game works.

Also, if you don't know where something is, ask in game. Many people online are very helpful, and will point you in the right direction.

Cheers all. Current problem is getting the frog leg pie or whatever back to a crafting professional. Doesn't seem to tell me which one in which district to return to, and all the ones I've spoken to so far say "nothing more to teach you". Very confusing.

You take the completed item back to the crafting trainer that gave you the quest and they will give you the next quest in line. In the case of the old world trade skill instance is the trainer at the top of the stairs and should have the red completed quest symbol hovering over his head. If he hasn't, just hail him anyway and see what happens. It sounds like you came running up the stairs and passed him (easy to do if you don't know he is there), left the instance and gone to the craft book seller outside.
