Just coming back to the game after over a year away and have been stoked to check out the new additions to the game, specificly the new cities and AA....So I rolled a new toon over the weekend and got him to 10 on the island and headed to FP (only choice for my particular race/class combo) thinking I would just betray to Neriak on arrival (which I have not done yet)......

Later I got to thinking about how absolutely little I really know about this new stuff...I've gotten a pretty good grasp on AA by reading the boards, but as far as progressing (i.e. the logical way to do it) thru the new cities as they relate to their good/evil counterparts, I'm pretty clueless and haven't learned too much about this by reading the boards....All I know is Neriak has a massive quest arc that I would like to do and (most importantly) it's not FP or Qeynos, which I have done at least 3 times each since beta....but I'm left with a lot of questions....

Like, is it necessary to betray to Neriak to do the quests there if you are on FP faction or are they friendly to other evils? (same question could be asked of Kelethin also). Another thing that just occurred to me....can FP and Neriak toons exchange mail and use shared banks or are the new cities on their own little closed systems in addition to the discrete Qeynos and Freeport ones we had before?

EQ2i shows the quest timeline in Neriak to extend far beyound FP's, which is awesome, but are there any major cons to being a resident of Neriak that might make me regret betraying to there in the longrun? Is it preferable to be a resident of FP vs Neriak or vice-versa for any reason? I don't mind betraying, I just don't want to have to do it more than once.

Also, I have a goal to try to quest as long and far as I can to try to maximize AA as much as possible at low levels.....Is it worth banging out a lot of the FP quests before betraying or should I just head on to Neriak and not worry about it?

That kind of thing....I'm just really fuzzy on how these new cities fit into the grand scheme of things (with AA complicating things a bit) and was hoping someone might be able to offer some insight.

Thanks in advance!

Neriak is evil so you can go there and start questing immediately. The area surrounding it is Dark Light woods, a great area for questing from 1-25 and laid out better and alot more logically then some of the old world content (in my opinion). Betraying to Neriak is just something you would do if you want to live there. As I udnerstand it, it's a pretty simple and straightfowrward process and not at all as complex as actually changing faction. Same with "Good" people switching citzenship to Kelethin. I would say walk through CL head on over and start questing! Then when you are done in DLW, you can head to butcherblock mountains in Greater fay and enjoy that from 20-30+, and then hit Steamfront Mountains again after you are 40ish. As I understand it, these zones are all faction agnostic so your alignment should not be a factor.

Wonderful....Thank you so much for clearing that up. I think I'll do just what you suggest

Was wondering....With the volume of quests available at low levels now I've heard of people turning exp off and levelling just on quest exp so as to maximize AA gain by doing every quest possible.....Seems kind of extreme to me, but is that seriously worth considering?

Will probably be soloing a lot so AA is definately a priority, just not sure if it's worth going that far necessarily.
