I am in the process of adding adornments to a Level 8 Fury. I have learned that adornments are important, particularly on a PVP server.

I added +1 wisdom adornments to two items and could see the benefit in the increased power and in the percentage of damage absorbed from different kinds of attacks (cold, heat, poison, etc.).

I then added a +1 intelligence adornment to an earring. None of the stats provided on the Persona page changed (except that intelligence went up by one).

When I highlite "Intelligence" it says that "Intelligence increases the damage you can do with spells." However, it does not say how much the +1 adornment helps me. Is there some way I can obtain information like that?

For example, suppose I have a spell that does 4 - 6 points damage. Suppose on average with baseline intelligence against the average monster of my level that spell does 5 points damage.

With the intelligence bonus perhaps the spell does 10% more damage on average (or 5.5 points damage since 10% of 5 is 0.5) against the average monster of my same level.

Many of the stats on the Persona page do provide quantitative estimates of, for example, damage absorbed or probability of avoidance and you can check to see how these change as a character's gear changes.

It would be nice to have some way to gauge quantitatively the worth of adding an intelligence bonus to gear versus some other adornment, for example +10 against cold attacks.

Just my 2 cents.

For spells, it usually shows the damage you would do in the examine box and this number is after adjustments for INT have been applied. Find a piece of jewelery or armor that increases your int. Take it off and look at one of your damage spells. Put it back on and look at the spell again and you should see the effect that the increased int would have. If you don't have any INT jewelry, buy something cheap off the broker to test with. Or perhaps you have an INT buff spell?

Supposedly, INT increases poison damage for scouts.

Thanks for the reply. I tried taking the adorned earring off and comparing the spell and saw no change. Perhaps that is because the spells are so low in level that an INT bonus does not benefit a Fury.

I did not know if the lack of a change in damage was because the listed spell damage did not reflect the adornment's affect or if the adornment had no effect.

Thanks for clearing that up. It seems my Level 8 Fury is better off not bothering with INT bonuses, at least not INT adornments! That is very good to know.

P.S.

So far I have only checked App 4 spells. I have not yet checked for affects of INT adornments on Adept 3 versions of those same spells.

I don't think +1 is going to make a noticeable difference, even at level 8. At level 65, it seems to take about 5 points of int to add a point of damage (base 60ish INT).

A +1 to Int may only make a fractional increment in the damage your spell does, and so the increase will not be reflected when you examine the spell. Although it is not reported, the increase is still there and is included in the damage calculation.

If you add another +1 to Int, you will probably then see an increase when examining the spell. However, a reported increase to base spell damage of only 1 point may actually be an increase of 1.4, or 1.7, or 1.somethingelse.
