Did my first rush order writ tonight as a jewler. I do them regulary on both my provy and my carpenter. But, this rush order writ needed like 6 different items. Each one requires looking up in the recipe book and finding, clicking and so-on. (not including the quest helper is too busy displaying the ding I got for the one I MADE to tell me what I need NEXT!! and having to accept my ding after each item when it's giving me my fuel costs 5 times!) I couldnt get it done. Power was ok unti lthe last one where I tried to massivly blow thorugh it as I was out of time. My carpenter has to make 6 items, but only two different ones. My provy is usually similar or at least better then 6!!!

Corner cutting tips appreciated, otherwise she's just gonna go kill sentries

when you goto find it, it helps to goto the search box, and type in the name. Also, don't spam the durability spells. use the progression spells as well. It'll help you move REALLY quickly. Make sure you have the fuels you need, as well as all materials. buy a few more than you need to. that way, you're not running back to the broker when you run out.

There's some tips at the end of this guide: Tradeskill Writ Guide And this one might be handy too: Not a Moment to Lose! A Guide for Power-Mad Speed-Crafters

I do timed writs on all 9 of my crafters, and can do them pretty well - only seem to have a problem with my weaponsmith with the rng not liking that particular character

First, i neatly seperate out the resources i need into my bags, leaving the bag window open so i can quickly tell at a glance which items i'm getting low on, whether raw materials or fuel - always know how much of each you'll use in for a single writ so you never have to run around in a panic mid-writ getting more stuff.

Then have a filter for you recipes. I personally filter by tier, eg selecting all recipes in the 40-49 range even if i haven't reached that level - they'll show up in the filter when you do. Then use the search box to type in the some characters of the name you're looking for, doesn't have to be a full name, just enough to get the list down to managable levels. Pick the correct item and away you go.

note, when finished with one item do NOT close the recipe window. since a few updates ago it resets your chosen filters/searches if you do to much annoyance. click on the recipes button at the bottom of the window instead.

As for the crafting, i work directly from my knowledge book with 4 columns of 3 arts. The right hand side columns are my best arts (not neccessarily the highest level), and on the left hand side i have my weakest - i have these here because there are times my power gets low, and i don't have enough to counter an event with my best one, but will with the lowest (cheapest) one.

I generally go all out on progress initially using all 3 arts until my pristine condition bar gets around 3/4 of the way down, then switch to 2 progress buffs and 1 durability buff. This will often stop it falling any further but generally not increase it. If the condition gets much lower i switch to 1 progress/2 durability buffs which should hopefully start bringing the bar back up again. I only use al 3 durability buffs when i get a bad rng run or a critical fail drops me from pristine.

I just did a bunch of the mid T7 rush orders Sunday morning. Each had one topaz piece of jewelery and 5 runes. I just typed in topaz and hit find all of them were right there, just took a couple of seconds to scan for the one I needed. Then for the runes, I just typed in the first three letters and searched. For things like Bard abilities, I just scrolled down to the bottom of the list (I have mine set to have lowest level on top)

When I finished the first item, I had my screen set up so the reward window overlaps the tradeskill window. I clicked recipes on my tradeskill window, bringing it on top of the reward one, and typed my three letters and got the next recipe started. I hit a couple of non-power using arts and then clicked and accepted the reward. I make sure the workorder is up in my quest window, and the window is big enough to see the next item I'll need to make.

For the 'rush orders', I click on the RECIPES tab to sort the recipes by name, instead of by level. Since 5 of the 6 crafts are runes, its fairly easy to scroll down to the appropriate rune instead of typing. For the other one, its always near the top since it is a fashioned item.

Another tip I learned the hard way. Don't carry any rare loams in your inventory. I made the mistake of making an adept III one time and blew the rush order. Worse part, the adept III was not in high demand

I've got various filters defined for my recipe book, including a 'tier' filter. When I do timed writs: 1) Make sure to have lots of fuel first. 2) Stand as far away from the 'writ desk' as possible to pick up the writ (pointed in direction of the appropriate crafting station). 3) Have skill page up (I arrange the TS skills in my knowledge book a certain way and trigger them by clicking in lieu of hotbar... that's just me) 4) Pick up the writ 5) Hotfoot it to the appropriate crafting station 6) Mouse over it and hit 'F' (default action) to get recipe book 7) Choose the appropriate 'Tier' filter (e.g. Tier 5) I have my quest helper window open and resized so I can see at least two of the required items. Once you've got the 'tier' selected, type in the first few characters of what you need to make (that should be enough) and hit 'enter' (e.g. neck for necklace). Works great for me. When nearing completion of an item, note the name of the next one in the list (use you noodle!!) so you can start typing it in while all that slow-poke monkey business is going on about updating your quest window. And in Kelethin, for a jeweler, it's a breeze! The desk is right next to the workbench, so you don't even have to run around. And, as mentioned, use those progress buffs! I only spam durability if it gets a little below 50% on the 4th bar.. and even then, usually only one of them (depends on tier, etc.) Using your progress buffs is critical. First couple rush orders I did w/ my jeweler were really tough as I'd homed in on the 'wrong' set of buffs in my skills page.

I've found it handy for any crafter, not just a jeweler, to choose only those books I am going to be using when I do my writs under the Edit tab in the recipe book. I haven't had any problems getting this setting to stay when the window is closed, since the update where other filters started to be lost. Plus I don't end up with things I don't need, like products from rares, if I just choose < > Essentials volumes 51-55 for instance. Since each tier of writs has a specific range, you only need to have a handful of books filtered out to display and so it cuts down on the need to scroll through many things. Another thing that helps on my jeweler is using search to find a partial on the name, either the beginning of the name on the rune or something like "Arcane" which will give me only the arcane jewelry. This helps me find the recipes very quickly. I do this also on my other crafters, like my sage, alchemist, tailor and weaponsmith. The carpenter and woodworker I can usually just scroll through to find the items for, and prov it can depend on what I get a writ for. I also make sure I have plenty of all needed materials when I start, and every handful of writs, I open my bags (I have a setting to open them all at once, old EQ habit ) and check to make sure I have enough. I keep a ballpark idea of how much material I use per writ so I can keep an eye on that.

I have a sort up top for each tier and I set up with that tier only, then type in a few letters from the rune and select from the list. I keep 200 fuel in my first pack and keep that up all the time so I can be sure I am not running out, tho it takes about the same number of fuel each writ, sometimes I forget to buy more. I harvest all my own raws so I make sure I have tons of those I need to make any recipe as jeweler in a rosewood box that I carry. You don't really need room for anything else since the product gets sucked up. If I'm doing a bunch of writs in a row I keep my raws box up too. Another thing I do is to put my buffs in a 4x3 configuration with the power sucker in the top row and the highest progress and durability buffs in the 2 middle columns. That way I have a small 2x2 cube to run between with my mouse for the average reaction. I keep this hotbar just to the left of the workstation window so my eyes can take in both at once. Try to check the next recipe's title while you are on the current one. You can accept the reward during the next combine. It won't go anywhere. One thing I wish had not gone away was the ability of the TS interface to remember your search setup. It's really a pain to have to re-select every time you close the thing.
