View Full Version : Any suggestions on where to find an EoF retail box at this point?

Just returning to the game and having a heck of a time finding a retail copy of EoF.

Went to a couple of walmarts thinking I had seen it there recently, but no dice (although you can get pretty much any other MMO besides EQ and EQ2 related stuff) so figured I would just hit some other retailers...

Gamestop/EBGames doesn't even have it listed in their system anymore. Fry's has it listed but called cs and they said they haven't stocked it in months. Best Buy has it on the website but it looks like my local stores don't have any. So I guess I can order from them if I have to, but who wants to wait? I guess I could do the digital download but I find it obnoxious to have to pay the same as everybody else but not get all the extras.

Any other suggestions where I might look? Target?

Just as a general point of discussion (may sound like a rant but isn't intended to be), is it just me or are game boxes for anything other than [Removed for Content] WoW or xbox-type games just impossible to find these days? Or games in general, really? I'm 37 years old (been gaming since I was 11), and maybe the senility is kicking in or something but does it seem like the state of gaming across the board is actually WORSE now than 10-15 years ago? Fewer choices rather than more? 10 years ago there were multiple titles for just about every little niche genre you could think of, but now there seem to be exceedingly fewer and fewer games available. Probably just my perception, but it really seems like things are regressing. Graphics and animations keep improving across the board of course, but it seems like there's less innovation in game design overall, less effort made to make new and exciting games, less effort made to create games for niche audiences (like wargamers!) and fewer games available in general.....And it seems like the only new games that get made are xbox games that get ported to PC or vice versa....Or if a game isn't represented by a console version, it's as if it just doesn't exist or something. And in general computer games increasingly have a console feel. Or is this just me getting senile? lol

You can buy the all in one pack from Direct2Drive: http://www.direct2drive.com/6/4362/...lation-Download From what other posters have said it is exactly like the box version but this is the ONLY place that you can buy it digitally and get everything. It even includes the house items. As to your declining PC Games comment, yup it is declining. My EBGames 5 years ago had 2 whole walls of PC Games now we got a 2 sided shelf about 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide. Same with my local Gamestop. The only good place for PC Games now is Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Fred Meyers. If you absolutely want a hard copy of the game check out the smaller chains that have electronic departments. I found mine at my local Fred Meyers.

Thanks much. I finally broke down and did the d2d deal you linked.....Main account is good to go.

Only problem I'm having now is figuring out how to get it to allow me to buy a 2nd copy for my 2nd account.....Keeps clearing the game from my cart everytime I try to buy a 2nd instance of the package because I already bought it once and, frankly, is starting to really try my patience. Won't even let me send it as a gift to myself or an alternate email addy or anything.

Thanks SOE for making us jump thru little freaking hoops to buy the current expansion to a currently active game. I know D2D isn't SOE, but I wouldn't even be dealing with that if I could just buy the thing from SOE or some normal retail outlet. Sheeesh.

BestBuy and CompUSA both stocked a lot of copies of it when I bought the game last week. Walmart & Target have it for online purchase only.

Yep, did that and no response.....Oh well, it worked for getting me up and running on the main account, so I guess I shouldn't complain. If I don't hear anything from them today I'll probably just order it from Best Buy or something.

Thanks guys

I find it most often at Electronics stores with a good selection of computers for sell, such as Fry's Electronics and Circutcity. Basicly the places that have atleast a whole row of shelfs for PC Games and not just 1 2 sided 10ft shelf like EBgames/Gamestop.

I had to get mine from Amazon.com because I couldn't find it anywhere locally.
