Hiya fellas,i have squeezed every drop of dps i have from my wizard (pending new gear) so I am creating this thread for you great wizzys to post the less talked about aspects of dps, aggro control, etc. The success of being a good wizard often consists of shaving seconds of dead time, spell chaining and improvising but i want this forum to be about little tricks and clever tips on how to rock out our toons.Post anything that you may think is helpful other than the usual aa spec, gear, or spell chain stuff. Examples may include but not limited to tips on potions/food used, miricales, blessings, macro tips, grouping tips, obscure stuff in and out of game that may help increase dps, aggro control, staying alive etc. Thanks for your time.

As I was leveling I appreciated/took for granted tanks that had macros for pulling but I failed to capitalize on the macro system for Frigid Gift. Including a macro for Frigid Gift and letting ppl know how long they have (i.e. whether or not you put AA in it) really helps slap those heroics down when grouping. Not everyone knew what the timing was to pop out their stuff as well without the macro. So using the macro to increase communication to better coordinate between yourself and your groupmates can be unconventional dps increase for intermediate players.

I don't know if there's a standard method for taking advantage of the mob resists/weaknesses but I've found that choosing either Fire/Cold-shape and plugging in a macro also helps coordinate the group DPS on a whole. Knowing when to use Fire or Cold shape to your advantage can greatly increase your dps/success. The generic rending icicles is great but if a mob is already fire weak it behooves you to use Fireshape every time it is up in addition to the broad debuff. Or vice versa if they are cold sensitive.

Miracles, mmm they are nice as well as blessings but I'm starting to run out of faction and need all the trash loot for cash to keep upgrading so I'm with that Yoyo fellow who's asking for god "writs" or something other than trash loot for god faction. Miracles need to use faction and loot, the blessings need to be "writ"-able.

My favorite non-dps spell for staying alive is Numbing cold. Everyone applauds the capacity of an illusionist to handle a ton of mobs, but with the right jousting of numbing cold, single root, group root, DOT stun, medium cast stun (incapacitate), slower cast stun (Ice Nova), and our mez I've handled 5 groups of 2-mob whites and 3 white singles simultaneously in an outdoor zone (plenty of room). In treasured gear at the time no less. I barely did it, but without the AOE slow/snare it would have never worked.

Think this might be the sorta thing you are after:

For long fights +power regen = dps.. That is if you are going to run out of power or have to stop causing dmg to regen power your dps goes down.

So this might be classified as unconventional dps for long fights.

The Very Rare mage HO.. the one that regens 20% of your pwr + 20%pwr /50% chance every time you take damage for 8 ticks. It is _very_ hard to get but if no one else in the group is HO'ing you might as well try for it. If you do manage to get it.. and have lots of power.. manaburn right away (if you can take the aggro) then use the vessel of fyr'un. Each of the 10 or so ticks the vessel hits you for (for 50 or so) counts as damage and can regen 20%. You'll be up at 100% from 0%(after manaburn) by the time the fyr'un vessel stops ticking, no matter what you cast in between. If at less than 80% pwr when you land that HO, then use the vessel first and then manaburn. You'll probably still get back to 100%. Still .. rediculously hard to get this HO.

In the same theme of pwr regen = dmg = +dps in long fights you can get those magic straw things from the carniverous plants that regen some % pwr. They're lore so u can only take one with you ... but u can have one from each tier.
