Now I've heard a few people talking about the skeletal revamp that is coming in the future, I was just curious if we might be seeing racial armor in the distant future. I was browsing through concept art of EverQuest II and came across some ideas for Troll armor and I have to say that they looked amazing the structure and thought behind the armor made it very unique and very Troll-ish. I've also come across the concept for the multitude of helmet some I recognized as being from EverQuest such as the old Dwarven Helm and Ogre helm. I was just curious if this might be a possibility give the characters more sentiments on their race's history and culture and such

Great idea- I support it 100%... but I play halflings exclusively- I wonder what the hell their armor would look like..?

I could see something like the Deputy outfits from River Vale, or the button up leather armor.

Oh man, don't tease me.. that would be so [Removed for Content]' rad, especially since my main comes from a long line of deputies that guard the outer wall.

I could see that armor set being a little bit easier to make as well since you already have the deputy hat (aka Brigand class hat)

I would love to see racial armor.  In fact i would love to see a lot more diffrent options that are race exclusive, and anything that makes race matter more.. (current racials are terrible) I would be awesome to see things like.. i dunno, I mainly played Iksar in EQ1, so i'm low on ideas for things.. but playing mainly Iksar and then Froglok, i can onl come up with ideas for them.. but i can think of.. Iksar only Bristlesilk armor.  Iksar-only skullcaps.  (who else could wear something designed for a lizards head, anyway?) Iksar-only chainmail (Iksar find plate uncomfortable!  They wore chain!) Froglok-only boots / shoes (with the design of their feet and all)

I want to see a skullcap that looks like the dead animal skull like the Iksars had in EQ1

I've said before in other threads it would be nice to have a racial armor switch for a choice of appearance on some armor. It would add a lot of flavor to the game instead of everyone looking like they shop at the same discount armor store.

Ok, so I have been putting some thought into armor that would racially "make sense" for them to wear. Mind you these are just ideas so if you have any other input, please by all means. Good Races: The Dwarves: The race of earth and stone, dwarves are miners and tunnelers therefor I feel their armor should have a heavy feel to it, even things like cloth armor would have at least some metal. It seems that the dwarves would incorporate metal into all their armor at least like steel toed boots and gloves to avoid a painful trip and fall or toe stub in their dark passage ways. Perhaps even incorporate light sources like candles into the armor to give light to the stout even if he goes down the wrong path and forgot his torch at home. The Fae: The first thing that comes to mind when looking at the Fae is somewhat obvious... Wings! This race would be the exact opposite of the Dwarves in terms of thier armor's feel. Their armor would have to be slim and extremely light weight and allow for all types of movement, so in this instance I feel that armor that juts out from them would be out since it would most likely interfere with flight (or at least gliding). The Froglok: (One of my personal favorites!) Like the Fae just looking at them gives me an idea as to what their armor should look like. Looking back at the EverQuest playable frogloks, something struck me as dead on. When looking at the armor of these critters I noticed one similarity in all the sets... there was a lack of it. It makes a lot of sense to me though I did competitive swimming when I was younger and there was one rule the tighter the out fit, and the less of it, the faster you went in water (sorry about that image everyone). So close fitting armor that leaves areas of the body exposed to make the Froglok more buoyant, and more agile seems to make the most sense to me. The Halfling: If you've watched Lord of the Rings or if you've played a few other fantasy games the theme behind Hobbits seems to be similar: They enjoy lounging about. However, it seems that EverQuest has put them in more of an adventure set mood. One thing that is very important to Halflings is their feet and so I believe that some and or most of their armor should show off the feet. High Elves: Ah yes, the noble and graceful creatures known as the High Elves. When I think of High Elves I quickly think "Prim and proper!" I think of slim clothing that show the race's natural thinness and a helm and or hat that makes them look taller (For a plate helm I am thinking the metal helm from the skeleton's in EverQuest 2) EverQuest had the male Helmets look like that of the Trojans. I don't know why but for some reason I just didn't think it was fitting for the race. Wood Elves: The creatures of the forest and woods, they stalk and hunt in this environment and so it is my belief that they should incorporate actual pieces of the forest into their armor such as leaves and bark so as to blend in with their surroundings more. The Neutral Races: The Barbarians: Proud, strong, and really really cold! They hail from a land of Ice and snow, and they are rather well barbaric. I think they should have hides incorporated into their outfits as it would seem only fitting. Oh and the one thing I loved about the EverQuest Barbarian armor? KILTS! The Erudites: The High Men is their nick name in EverQuest, they are graced with amazing intellect and magical prowess. Even the warriors in EverQuest 2 have the option of placing wards and or runes upon themselves showing that even the ones that are less magically inclined can still have some sort of magical influence in them. First thing that came to mind was floating pieces of armor and spinning gems in the armor. Like imagine the metal hoop helm from the EverQuest Erudite male and now picture a giant gem in the middle of that slowly spinning. I think it would show off the races natural gift of being naturally inclined. The Gnomes: The inventors and tinkerers, gnomes have a real gift with machines... why not show that in their armor? Gears, steam, electricity and maybe a steam engine looking contraption? Would certainly make for some funny jokes that's for sure! The Half Elves: Known also as Ayr'Dal or "Outcasts" they are the "punks" of society. They feel as if no one understands them and that no one cares for them when really people rely on them alot, they obtain traits from both the human and elven races. I am a little torn on this one to be quite honest... I don't know if I would rather see a hybrid of human and Elven armor, or if I want to go for the "punk look" of having more belt buckles and leather than you can shake a stick at. I feel as if their armor can be as diverse as the many different Elven parents they can have. The Humans: We are all humans and I am quite sure we know what we like to wear. I am thinking if one wanted to do and armor set for humans, look less into fantasy and look more into the past. Take what armor was created in the Medieval times and use that as a guide. One thing I would love to be if I was a human would be the Qeynos, or Freeport Guard from EverQuest I loved the tunics and the Qeynosian shield... It kinda felt like you where routing for your favorite football team and showing your teams colors. The Kerran: While in EverQuest they more tribal, they seem to have calmed down a bit and have become rather civilized I still however look back to their tribal heritage and like the Frogloks notice the lack of Armor. This could be helpful in climbing and fishing as less coverage would allow freer movement. The Evil Races: The Arasai: Look to your cousins the Fae take what I said but make everything about it sick and twisted by an evil touch that seems to consume the very creature! I am thinking an excess of bat wings in their armor... I don't know why... The Dark Elves: Twisted by evil and yet... still so sexy! The Tier Dal love to manipulate others and they do so with ruthless efficiency. One only needs to look to Neriak to see what I mean. I feel the Dark Elves (espically the females) Should incorperate death into their armor such as the Female's plate helm in EverQuest which was simply a skull, however make their armor attractive in a strange kinda creepy way. The Iksar: (Hands down my favorite race of them all!) They're tough, they're mean, they're scaly. And as in EverQuest I feel their armor should be like the Froglok and Kerran in that it would be rather uncomfortable to wear plate mail and their scales are already like chain mail as it is! I think the skull helm that was made for the Iksars is simply the coolest looking helm in EverQuest what with the horns and all! The armor of the Iksar gave the race a special personality and made them more admirable to people. The Ogre: Whooo baby! The son's of War himself! While some of them maybe slow and as dumb as a troll, others have regained their intellect. I feel the the Trojan Helmet should be part of their set, armor that covers ever inch of them. When I think of and Ogre warrior I honestly think of a modern tank. It's big it's powerful, it's almost in-penetrable, and it's something I wouldn't want barreling at me at 20 miles per hour! The Ratonga: Sly cunning and furry I feel the Ratonga's outfits should always have an excess of pouches and purses on them just to keep you wondering if all of those really belong to that shifty creature. Like the Dwarves, the rats love the deep underground, however unlike the dwarves the seem to be much much more agile and like their furry Kerran counterparts I feel less "restraining" armor would be what they choose. Something that allows me to slip through the tightest of holes and that can let me freely jump to avoid falling rocks, or the occasional Ogre's foot. Last but not Least The Troll: I saw some wonderful concept art of Troll armor for EverQuest 2 somewhere but I can't find it anywhere now. Now it is said that troll armor (from EverQuest) is made up of anything they can get their hands on, however, in EverQuest I didn't feel like they got that feel If that was truly the case I would have loved to see lets just say a halflin's buckler as a shoulder plate, a skirt made of large spear heads and sword blades. I would also love to see wrist bands with blades on them. Like some Frankenstein  concoction. Oh and did I mention spikes? I would love to see more spikes. Whew well that pretty much somes up my ideas on racial armor, any other ideas or comments are welcome.

Once the skeletal revamp is done, I'd like to see them do something... similar to this. But rather than having armor's appearance depend on the race that equips it, I'd like to see armor's appearances depend on the faction of the creature you obtained the item from, whether as a quest reward, or as loot. For instance, if you do a quest for someone on the Qeynos faction, then the reward would have a Qeynos-themed appearance to it.  Likewise, if you kill a Droag in KoS, the loot dropped will have an appearance appropriate to the Cult of the Awakened.

I would love racial armor, in fact any type of armor that makes me stand out from the rest of my class or even armor type. Only problem is that the developers seems to have a rabid disdain for anything racial specific. I realy miss the racial abilities from EQ1 that made race matter, like Ogres being immune to frontal stuns, Trolls and Iksars had regen and so on, armor also looked different on different races. Ok, I'm against the same piece of armor looking different on different characters, but at least the "racial" armors of EQ1 had character. There were also large, medium and small armor (that unfortunately disappeared quite early). The approach in EQ2 seems to be more like a "one size fits all" kind of thing, and it  feels like a lawyer designed it all to be as "equal" and unindividualistic as possible. On another note, more social clothing, and more of everything that has to do with the social aspect please!!!

I don't think any of use should get our hopes up for dark elf females to get the open trunk leather pants again.

Hahaha I remember that, the dark elven leather armor was a bit revealing to say the least.
