Saw a great Freeport thread om the same issue, and wondered what people thought of the situation on the Light Side. I have been sticking with Castleview Hamlet because only Elves really matter The bank, tradeskill, mender, and Harbor zone are all handy, but I would love to hear what others recommend.

I like 5 Karana Court in SQ. There is an npc next door that sells woodworking supplies. I can easily start the writ collection round from SQ (mage tower -> NQ -> EG -> QH -> the world). My waypoint is set in the inn in QH (from when I used to live there). I sell to the bartender and head to my house from there. If I need repairs, I head to the mender and take the back door to SQ. I have been thinking about moving my waypoint to my front door but QH is convenient - I can CoQ and then immediately hop on a boat or carpet. Most of the people who sell reasonably priced supplies (particularly rare woods) live in SQ so I can visit them to buy their goods. Nettleville and Starcrest are convenient too (I used to buy woodworking books in Nettleville). I have never liked the newbie towns and left mine within two weeks of starting the game. I only rarely visit them and only when I have to. On the other hand, were I to do it again, I would have bought 4 Bayle Court for the extra selling slot. If you only want a two room apartment, QH is probably the most convenient. EDIT: What isn't convenient from SQ are people who sell from apartments in the Baubleshire or Willow Wood. I have to zone a few times to get there, although Nettleville Dock is relatively quick to get to. I would really prefer if people who are planning to do major selling would move to the City where they are more convenient.

Willow wood is very convenient for mender, bank, crafting and Inn all close together. But if you are selling and want to reach the most people SQ is the place to be. I also like the 2 room apts in Q harbour for a slightly bigger place, it has a bank, mender and the broker, but buyers have trouble finding my door in the Inn. So my next move will be SQ and a coq spot in Nettleville.

I have toons with home bases in a few different areas, and I have to say my favorite area for my home base to be is in the Willowood. I like it because everything is close by and unless you are realllllly confused it is virtually impossible to get lost there. I also like it because if you are starting a new toon out there there are zones for harvesting and leveling very close by the only down side is as your character advances and moves into a larger home they have no large homes in this zone, even so, I still have my lvl 41 Ranger using this area as a home bind point.

I have my room in SQ (to get the extra slots for sales) and my bind point in Starcrest Commune - SC is just through the gate to my room, and has all the handy aspects of the "newbie towns" - broker, crafting, bank, mail and docks all together.

Unlike an earlier poster - I hate the main town zones and like the newbie zones - only venture to the main areas to pay rent, buy from vendors rooms and pick up writs.

As a hint for getting around - try your local docks -> the caves -> take the down below gate under the waterfall -> zones right next to the gates for your choice of main town zones with the minimum running around (I zone fast so it's the running not the zoning that slows me down). I know you can go straight to the down below from the newbie zone, but that actually take sme considerably longer if I take the running around into account.

It almost feels like S.Qey has docks.

I prefer "village" zones too but prefer Castleview Hamlet (for my Qeynos-based characters). Why is it different (other than it being full of stuffy High Elves and Slimy Frogloks)? If I want to go to a city zone, usually to get writs or buy something directly from a person's home, I just zone into Qeynos Harbor (which is just outside of the bank), zone into the Down Below (which is next to the Castleview Hamlet zone boundary) then zone into the city zone (NQ, SQ and EG) I wanted to go to (all 4 zone boundaries are all together).

I can't say much about the houses, but I can say that many people I talk to or grouped with like Qeynos Harbor as a set point. That way there is a Bank, a Broker, and bells to get to other places, as well as a straight way to other Qeynos parts.
