Hello I am still new to EQ2. I started a Swashbuckler (Started in Qeynos) a few days ago and got him to level 14, and recently got a few friends playing now as well, however, they all picked evil classes and are now playing in Freeport. Now for my question - If I betray to Freeport, will I still be able to keep my class, as I enjoy the Swashbuckler and don't wan't to change, but I still want to be able to play closely with my friends. Thanks.

If you betray you will become a Brigand. Swashbuckler is the 'good' Qeynos based Rogue class while Brigand is the 'evil' Freeport based Rogue class. You could start a Brigand and see how you like it then decide to betray or not.

But later after the first few levels it won't matter much what city you are from. You can group with anyone (as long as you aren't on some specific servers). It is fairly easy and quick to get from Qeynos to Freeport.

Okay, I would rather not change because I heard the the Swashbuckler can tank for small groups and that is what my main role willl be, and unsure if a Brigand can fill that role as well. Which brings up my other question, how will I know what areas to stay clear of? Thanks.

As a brigand, I wanna say that we can tank about as well. I'm not familiar with everything the swashbuckler can do, but my dps easily lets me hold aggro, I have 2 skills to increase my hate (more if I spent aa in it). On top of that with my build I can keep a mob turned away from me for like 15-20 seconds assuming everything lands. That's time that I have hate, but the mob can't hit me so I take no damage.

Nothing wrong with the swashbuckler, but I don't wanna be one myself.

i dont know swashy AAs. But brigand stamina line makes you a mini-tank. You wont be a guardian, mind you, but you can tank. You will get +6 stamina (per rank) per AA on one, a taunt from one, then +1%hp +2% shield effectiveness (per rank) on one, and +5%hp, +4% block, 420 mitigation, and a 50% hate increse in your defensive stance. You can tank

oh...shwahsy and brig both get rogue AA, so you get the same junk man

edit* oh nothing wrong with swashy? hehe I say they are better than brig, I may betray to be an ikky swash! they get moves to lower the physical mitigation of their oponents, and dps. Brigs get attack -speed- and cold/heat and magic. I dunno why swash gets better moves

Brigands are required in raids for this skill alone. Swashbuckler debuffs are more centered around making the mob do less damage while brigand ones make the mob take more damage.

Goods and evils can play together perfectly well. No need to change a thing if you don't want to.
