View Full Version : tier 5 harvesting?

I'm trying to find a good place to do some mass harvesting.  I'm at the point of needing to upgrade my EXPENSIVE gear and spells, as well as leveling my crafting through tier 5.  Where's a good place to go?  I've tried steamfont - but it's a massive hike from freeport and I haven't had much luck with rocks there.  Also tried the feerrott, and that place just blows.  Way too hard to find nodes, and you invariably get jumped by 7823465896 spiders that were hiding in the ferns, who then call 92387659783 more friends over before you're done taking care of them.  Don't get me started about the damned dragonflies.  You can't see anything in that zone so I was getting nowhere.  I've heard that lavastorm and everfrost aren't so good either because the nodes are crowded by heroics.  Is there anywhere I haven't considered where I could just run around scooping up every node I find, clearing out mobs if needs be so long as I can SEE them?

I like Rivervale.  There's 99.9% safe area near the zone-in.

Personally I've found that lavastorm isnt so bad if your careful. The majority of the goblins in the first area beyond the cave are non-agro. As long as you stay away from the heroic groups on the edges you should be fine.

<p>I, too, am currently leveling a few crafters through T5 and I have the low-down for ya! The BEST place I've found is a certain area in the Feerrott. Yes, there are wandering mobs, but in this particular area it's just Satarrs (sp?) and Swamp Feeders. Those are all very easy lvl 37-38 single and group encounters. If you go south out of the cave near the zone-in, stay on the trail as it curves left, passing the lizard groups on your right. The trail will then turn right. After this turn, jump off the trail, following the wall/hill on your left. You'll pass some non-aggro groups of "domesticated" mobs. When you reach the river, follow it left. You'll quickly see another mouth of of a river on your right, T-ing into the one that you're following. That's precisely where the good foraging starts in Feerrott. On the left side of that river there, you'll find some good foraging with no wandering mobs! Both left and right areas of the river have tons of foresting nodes. You'll just have to watch out for the occasional wandering ^^^ Heroics. The wandering Heroics are Greenblood Bouncers (lvl 40), named Saattar encounter, and named Swamp Feeder encounter. The Bouncer will wander your way only once in a great while and the other two are semi-rare spawns. </p><p>Yeah, I forage in Lavastorm too, but it's not nearly as lucrative as Feerrott. In Lavastorm, leave the cave and turn left before you run into the lava pit. Keeping your distance from the aggro miner goblins, turn right and go up the hill there. I noticed that it was a decent spot for foraging while leveling since all the wandering mobs are non-aggro, but not quick enough spawing for strictly foraging trips.</p><p>*Note: My Feerrott directions will make much more sense if you just print them out and refer to them as you're trying to find your way.</p>

Right on! Thanks for the tips everyone.  Will try them out later. And for the record: /spit feerrott dragonflies <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Rivervale has quite a vast 'safe area' where nothing, except a rare epic wolf spawn, will bother you.  You can ever cherry-pick around Shakey's Farm and other places deeper in without too much trouble.  Only knock on Rivervale would be the lack of fish nodes and the wandering aggro mobs that hug the river's edge.  All other nodes are easy to find.

<p>LOL - "lack of fishing nodes"</p><p>This problem must be addressed immediately!</p><p> /smug</p>

<p>One hint about harvesting in Feerrot... You may have already done this...</p><p> Adjust your preferences ( you can even set a profile and save it) that minimizes the flora. It makes the nodes that much easier to find.</p>

I find Everfrost to be the best place to harvest.  The easiest being through the cave and ice tunnel and out into the opening there (the area just before the spider tunnel).  There are lots of nodes, all are easy to see in contrast to the ground and not much in the way of obstacles to run around.
