I am running Vista.

My soundcard is a Philips PSC705

My sound works great but I get no microphone support. I have searched the internet and from what I am gathering , Vista breaks apart each aspect of the sound card and therefor unless you have drivers to run a mic for that soundcard it doesnt support the jack. I use Vent while raiding and this is annoying.

Has anyone found a workaround. I dont really want to buy a usb microphone with its own drivers, as I like my headset.

An yes I know my soundcard is old but it still works so I am trying not to replace, considering that all the new cards are having the same issues.

I found on my system that Vista keeps MUTING my mic on its own. I had to turn on Speech Recognition in Vista in order for it to not mute my mic and for it to work. After a few days of doing this I was able to turn off Speech Recognition and it stopped muting my mic.

mic was never muted. But I did find some interesting reading.

It seems Vista supports Dual sound cards very well. So I turned on my onboard sound and configured my mic and headset to use those jacks. And I left my 5.1 surround attached to the main card .. works very well.
