I made my return to EQ2 this past week, and I was surprised to see how great things looked after some time away and some much needed upgrading. I took some high res shots from around Neriak and I thought I would share what I came away with. I'm very impressed with how well the game has aged.

Very nice! And welcome back! btw, Were you using the default "High Res" settings or did you use a custom high end setting?

How does one go about making a high res screen shot? Its not just adjusting your settings to max quality is it?

I can't stand the jagged edges either. I'm definitely going to search out that Options setting to save screen shots in a .tga format. Thanks!
for those of you who want to have incredible detail yet dont have the beefiest of machines, you can get good quality.

Go into your videocard settings and max out you anisotropic filtering (sp?). dont mess with anti-aliasing. Unless you have it activated in your .ini file, it wont matter anyway.

Next, in your ingame display properties, crank up your individual textures qualities. Cant remember exactly what they are called since i am at work. but they are the first set of settings (there are three drop downs) in your display props. Turn off shadows. they are a hog. Go under atmospheric effects and disable bloom effects.

I also recommend turning your water effects down to minimal as it affects very little in game.

you should have a lot better quality now. You can tweak your personal settings as you see fit. raise or lower particles, etc. Hope this helps those who at one time thought they were forever condemned to watching play-doh EQ2

Where is there a listing of how to turn on AA, and other ".ini only" settings? I won't be cranking it, but my card can handle a little bit of it at least.GREAT screenshots btw.

Gorgeous shots I have something similar to your rig but a little lesser So I dont quite keep my graphics on par with what you are showing. I do, however, keep my character model graphics on high at all times because they are a must see at max The rest I keep at a lower setting so that I may raid effectively still

Surprisingly it's not... the fan on the GTX is not noisy, though it is not completely silent. I would say, unless you are running a full watercooled setup, your case fans will be louder. The only downside on the GTX is the tremendous heat that the card produces. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about noise, it runs pretty well.

Hehe, the screenshots are nice, but what is really amazing is the fact Xaxius had the will to upload them and link them here I would recomend some of them to be reposted over at www.mmorpg.com EQ2 forums as there are some screenshot threads there usually populated by people that play on balanced (thus doing the game a great injustice)PS I would do it, but i am way to lazy for such an endevour!

We have some nice screenies from Veeshan's Peak on our guild site if y'all would like to peruse them. We did take a photo of us after Phara Dar, but I was told it didn't turn out as well, but we did get some from a brave soul of Trakanon.

Oh, and if you scroll down the the pic of the front door, that's me in the botton right corner.
