View Full Version : At the upper levels, can SKs do the same damage as necros?

I have both a ShadowKnight and Necro at level 17. My necro WAY outdamages my knight. The necro can easily take on 2 and even three blues at one time without even breathing that hard. My SK has trouble taking on 2 blue mobs. Admittedly the Necro does have the advantage of both a strong pet and of strong spells, which is like a two player duo while soloing. Does the SK ever get strong enough at the upper levels to be equivalent to the Necro in power?

No.

Necros are mages and are designed around doing DPS. SKs are fighters, and are designed around taking hits and holding agro.

...Not to say that a good SK will almost always kick a good Necro's behind in group instance situations, with multiple mobs in a fight, at 70 =)

/Shadarr

Yeah, depends totally on playstyle and what kind of mobs you fight. In raids of course the necro will always win, but in groups in instances with not only ^^^-mobs the sk can win. I remember i was in PoA with 2 Necros the last time, at the end i had fantastic 2!! dps more than the first Necro and 150 more than the other This will however not happen in Zones like Unrest/Valdoon/OOB because sadly there are only ^^^-Mobs and no good AoE-trash.

Unless the Necro sucks, then no. DPS specced with a mage group I average about 1.5k DPS on a raid whereas the Necro will average 3-4k, double or more.

yeah, depends on if the Necro plays good, has good gear, and is Mastered out, otherwise I out DPS everyone I group with in instances on a regular basis. Except sometimes a few other Necros and this Monk I know thats always trying to get agro from me for fun

In PvP an SK does way more way faster than a Necro. Just in case you were wondering. I'll go after an orange con necro without any worries, but an even con SK will usually take my lunch money.

I cant do that on my necro. My necro does a ton more dps on single target mobs though.

if our reaver acted like arch lich [/dream] and we had life burn,i bet we could get within 200-300, but. the longer the fight, the further the necro will get ahead. [I belive they cheat when we aren't looking]

Its possible to get up there but still not close. My best on a raid was around 2200-2400 dps on Vilucidae and 2k dps on the 2nd named in MMIS. But that was wearing all mage proc gear with a troub in group adding more procs to me while I was running ro's fury. Lots of fun but only doable 2 times a raid. You can expect 1k dps for the average raid sk. 1500 for the well equiped mastered raid sk. 2k-ish dps for a optimal proc gear equiped SK. Groups.... Hell yeah I can hit 3k dps and it does impress the mages when you blow them out of the water before they build up enough steam. I've spent many nights racing neck and neck with conj and necro's trading top dps spots back and forth.

MPO is that our reaver does a 1% power return every 1.5 seconds [ish] and some kind of life burn for half the dmg and draws 3/4ths the life of the full. /discuss

I normally out damage my group tanking in defensive stance as a 52 SK. Then again I am pretty well equipped and have great spells. Perhaps it's just that I try to hard compared to everyone else my level...
