View Full Version : What's Next in RoK?

Kingdom of Sky: Relic pieces are deffinately a great item that brought a new meaning to raiding. Best part was the great "Randomness" of trash to drop these chests. Been to 5 labs raids with no relic dropping and yet on 1 raid I saw 3-4 relic chests drop off trash. GJ devs (not being sarcastic either)

Echoes of Faydwere: Set pieces brought another great depth with an earie "Pokemon" feel with people wanting to "Collect em all" so to speak. The legendary pieces have great buffs with the fabled stuff being even better. Sadly I haven't been on any raids so I don't have any for my warden.

Rise of Kunark: What can we expect?

Personally for RoK I would like to see a combinate of Relic/Set pieces. Maybe make Crusader, Warrior, Brawler centric pieces this way it keeps up the complexity of it. This way you add more variety than just leather, plate, cloth and chain like relic gear but scale back the complexity of class centric gear like we see with legendary pieces.

One thing I would personally like to see are Relic Weapons/Set Weapon pieces that we could obtain. As a SK on the path of darkness becoming a Death Knight it would be wicked to have a combo 1h long sword with Kite Shield. With those combined with a third item like gauntlets it would give a unique ability.

Want to see an Uber 2h for my SK that requires relic gems. Sword of Desolation sounds nice with it saying bellow "Wielded by Death Knight Uza:"I will suck out their souls and bleed their bodies dry so sayith the Death Knight".

While molds are a great idea and does make it much easier to gear members up, the fact that it drops off of trash is a travesty in the first place. EoF sets again were a good idea on paper but bad idea in reality. Even SoE tried to remedy the situation by changing the loot tables to include a *Must be present to win* clause that really doesn't help as much as it should. Let's face it, unless they make each and every piece to the set better than all the others available and make the set bonus actually something useful, we will still look like a bunch of colorblind fashion dysfunctional clowns. And even then you need to have the contested loot better than the instance loot. So remedy. Make it so you also have something like the "Shadowknight Helm Finish". It could say "If 3 are equipped it does so and so, for 5 so and so and for 7 so and so. It of course would be lore so a person would have to be very picky on what item it went on. This item drops off of the bosses and when applied to any T8 SK helm not only adds an adornment of sorts to the helm but also changes the look to match the other Finishes in the set. This would allow toons to wear the best gear possible, have a set to strive for and also look good while doing it.

This way people who are like me who can only get into semi-raids can get nice things. After that you have hardcore raiders who can get the ultra nice stuff.

risk vs reward why would i want someone who zones into a zone kills 2 mobs gets a "mold" and has same gear as person who spends 8hrs clearing and learning then zone? RvR

Personally I think the Labs and the whole relic idea in general is the best thing SoE ever did for this game. The labs is a perfect beginner zone to kit out toons with, its superb and has introduced many many new people to raiding that would have normally not had the opportunity. Bravo to the developer who came up with the zone and the whole relic system. I realise this is totally against what most hardcore raiders believe in but I think the popularity of the labs shows its success for the overall population. Just my opinion.

Labs is a deffinate example of this since you can do a pickup raid for labs very easily.

However it's quite hard to do one for Emerald Halls or Mistmoore Inner Sanctum. Heck even had difficulty in a pickup raid for FTH which is supposedly the newb raiding zone from what I hear. Only instance I have done that is harder than FTH is probably Clockwork Menace course I didn't see any fable gear drop off him. Just saw that dang Balanced Magnetic Dagger thing drop off him.

Imo, in RoK it should be a mold, but not for plate/chain/leather/cloth, but rather for like 2 classes, (like cleric mold, warrior mold, predator mold, etc...), and it shouldn't drop off trash. I'm all for having a "starter" type raid zone like labs was, but back in KoS, the difference between someone with the best gear from every instance, and someone in full relic from trash mobs, was not very significant.

In RoK ,I hope class sets could be treasured molds/quest items in heroic instances.

Sets armor better be generallized to 4 arctypes at treasured stage.

In order to make it advance to a lengendary 12 classes armor, you should get some tradeskill items.

Hope this helps marketing of tradeskill usage

At the end, you improve them by raiding specific nameds ,in quest reward or by turning in some raid named drops.

For this stage, players get refined / fable quality armor for 24 classes.

or maybe tradeskill to get arctype armor, heroic instance to get 12 class legendary armor, raid to get fable class specific armor.

Everything above makes this game not only raiding to get armor and afk sok at other hours.

You need to group, you may need some tradeskill items...(DIG is fun please!)

And these changes also helps a bit in seperating player progress or guild progress on gears.

Most important of all ,when the fable armors is rewarded ,you might want to add some shinying effect on it ,because it's really something special

Someone really cares about to be different from others.
