Hi, I'm a returning EQ2 player, and starting from scratch. With all the new updates and expansions, I gather that the defiler class has changed (last time I played properly Splitpaw Saga was just released).

Now I will be solo'ing alot, I know that the defiler class is not that great for solo'ing and can take some time. MY questions are :-

1) What is the best race for a defilier? Was considering a barbarian, just for the RP reasons.

2) I've done some reading on these AA's. What is the best KoS trees to take, the best EoF tree, and what is the best order to progress in them?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome back.

In my opinion:

1. Best race for a new Defiler is one of the big races. Better starting STR/STA works better for all the melee you'll be doing. I chose Barbarian (but then, even my Conjy is a Barbarian).

2. For the lower-level, mostly-solo game, I'd start with the damage enhancements in the EoF tree, and get melee crits to 100% in the KoS tree. You'll change those if you ever become a raid-only Defiler, but that seems to work well for solo levelling.

Good Hunting!

The Int line gives a fantastic dot for only 20 energy (I think, can't log into verify atm) and will help soloing a ton. Right after that you can raise you damaging spell crit rate buy a very large amount.

The Agi line does give 100% melee crit rate but at lower levels the benefits of that seemed minimal to me so I respecced them over to Int and loved the results.

The the first two dot upgrades in the Canni line also help your spell dps, but anything after that in the line you won't see the benefits of until 50+.

In all reality you don't need to worry about boosting your healing ability very much while leveling. Focus on soloability. You will heal fine in groups.

I would first:

Finish the Int line in KoS -

Put 5 points in each of the two dot upgrades in Eof -

Finish the Agi line in KoS -

then id finish getting Canni in EoF

I would'nt even finish the Int line if you are going for max soloability.

First 21 points(including doggie) = run INT line to 4 8 8

Next 10 points = switch over to the CANNI line and max out the first 2 dots.

That is pretty much the bulk of your casting DPS right there with 31 points total spent.

If you still want even more DPS run your AGI line all the way down to final ability.

By then you will probably be up close to L50 and will want to respec over to more grouping and heal - y lines.

//edited for not good english
