So my wife and I are thinking about coming back to EQ2 after a LOOOOOONG time away from it. She currently has a level 32 coercer. I have a 33 Guardian. We created this characters with grouping in mind (that was the climate of the game when it came out). Now with so much duo/solo content we're looking at making a solid duo. My wife has never loved a character more than her Enchanter in EQ1 and she absolutely loves her Coercer in EQ2. I'm willing to reroll and have her mentor me up (she'll need to get AA anyway since we left before any expansions came out) So I'm looking for suggestions on a good partner for a Coercer. The Coercer DPS while not terrible isn't great either. Aggro and healing are also something to consider. I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks in advanced. Kygan

Well me and my bro have been duo'ing a Coercer and necro for a while and found it to be very enjoyable and we can take things we didnt think we could before.

Yeah, a summoner may be the way to go... Necros can do nearly anything they want to some extent or another, and Conjs are cool too, I guess, if you like less awesome pets and being overall inferior But in all seriousness, Summoner or maybe even a Crusader/Brawler would probably work well. Really, any hybrid-ish class.

Yeah, I would recommend a Shadow Knight or Necromancer. I regularly Duo with a Shadow Knight now and have only encountered one very minor stumbling block. I come from Qeynos.... I could betray but I've spent too much money on skills and the difference isn't that much. Just some of the writs can have some conflicting factions but that's about it. So I guess you could use a Paladin or Conjuror but it makes some very mild inconveniences. Besides, I think the SK has a better survivability with the Tap Shield than the Ward Shield and heals.

I really enjoyed my warlock/coercer duo I did with a friend. Between stacking our roots, the mobs never got anywhere close to us. If a root broke, I could stun while he re-rooted, or whatever. Was very nice. Plus with his nukage and my caster pet, things died quickly. And if we got adds, I could mezz them no problem.

Something else to consider if you're looking for a bit less risk might be a warden. Still decent spell damage, and they also have 5% roots like the coercer. Stack those and on any given attack a mob only has a 1 in 400 chance of booth roots breaking. . . and the warden can heal if y'all end up taking damage. Heck, the warden can tank with his self-mit buff and melee aa's, if it really comes down to it. . . . .

Either way. . I'd suggest something where you can stack roots. Another mage (including summoners, as have been mentioned), a warden, maybe a fury (also a 5% root plus high spell damage). Or a dps class. I duo'd with a ranger in RoV and I'd mezz the groups and we'd pick them off 1 at a time, or I'd stunlock the single mobs while he burned them. . . . TBH, the only classes I wouldn't really suggest would be Guardian or Berserker, and even tey can eventually do some nice damage with their aa's, so. . . .

Anything! But I'd still suggest a warden or another mage for the root stacking.

Depends on what you want to do.

On my coercer I can solo anything that isn't immune to stun or mez.

When I try duoing with someone they end up just breaking mez or root which makes it tougher to duo than to solo.

If you maybe go with a necro/conjy you could have their pet tank and coercer pet dps and coercer throw out stuns, and mez when things go south.

If you go with a fury the fury can heal your pet and dps nicely.

I actually think a warlock or Wiz would make one hell of a combo with a coercer. I have been thinking about duelboxing and if so I would have to try a Wiz/Coercer combo (mentoring since I already have a 70 coercer). Really coercers work well with just about anyone that has good DPS.

You could also try an assassin or brigand. Both are high dps classes so they can burn through mobs rather quickly. Probably Brig over assassin because a brig has some good tanking ability and has a bit more survivalbility than the assassin

From my in-game experiences I find Fury works well with a chanter -- either Coercer or Illusionist.

Chanters are a good fit for any class really.

What kind of role do you think you would have the most fun with? If you like to play tanks then I would probably say go for a Shadowknight. SK's have decent dps and can take a good bit of a beating. and they have their life taps to help keep them alive. If you would rather play a healer go for Warden or Fury. You get the heals and half decent dps. Furies get some nice AE spells later in the game and have some very nice AA's for enhancing their damage. if you were to go for a mage your best bet would probably be a conjy or a necro as many others have stated. As for the scout classes....i have no idea really....maybe a brigand just because i think they get a taunt.....I'm not entirely sure about that though
