So Im trying to patch up the game and Im noticing it taking and extraordinarily long time to patch. Are there any alternate sites to DL the patch?

Nope. If it seems it's hanging on a particular file, stop it and restart. If you're patchign the game for the very first time, 5 to 8 hours is not unusual.

Yep. I just recently came back and had to patch from EoF. What I essentially had to do was baby sit the patcher (ugh). It would estimate about 2 hours then climb, over the course of a minute or so, to 8-10 hours and download that particular file very slowly. I just canceled and restarted (without restarting the patcher, thats a waste of time) and it zipped right through that file and continues normally.

I've always left my patcher unattended. I have KoS and EoF only available via digital download. It takes me 12-15 hours to patch initially.

MY one is goign to take 13hrs, it is absoultly ridiculous in this day and age. As if sony can't have a site dedicated to DLing patches.

Number 1: It would be good customer service.

Number 2: It would encourage people to start or re-start the game. I am coming back from 2yrs of not playing and I already regreat installing it.

The problem could be at your end (firewall issues, isp problems or bandwidth throttling on large downloads which is getting to be very common, ...), or theirs (their new launchpad seems to have a lot of problems).

My instalation of EQ2 is curently taking up 12GB of my hard drive (on my second computer, my main computer, with logs, test server and a beta server still loaded from TSO beta is currently taking up over 40GB).

If you are downloading the whole thing, expect it to take a long time. If you installed it from DvD, and are patching it in, expect it to still take several hours at a minimum.

If you have a slow connection, it may take 2 or even 3 days to download the full game, and a day to patch if you are installing it from DvD.

There is no actual need for this game to provide a second download site for patches, as even on the launch day of a new expansion the traffic generated does not cause issues with downloading a patch.

My patch sessions, on a fresh install on a new computer or fresh OS install take on average 3 hours maximum. I have unrestricted bandwidth from my ISP (business account), the only 3rd party software I use for preventative solutions is Avast Anti-Virus, and I use Windows Firewall on minimum settings. Don't know if that's the reason my installs are so much less painful than others or not. But, its what I've used since I started playing and I've been on 3 different ISP's over the years including one in Canada. /shrugs

I too have never had it take over 3 hours to patch from discs. Even on a machine that was several years old. I also have used a couple different ISP's & still no issues.

I honestly don't know the secret.

Ours took about 5 hours. We downloaded to one computer and copied to the others via the local network. We are fine with the 5 hours, we live in the country and use a wireless ISP that is located on the other side of a large set of powerlines that interfere with the signal.

But we should be expecting some of the worst download times. The new patcher seems to get stuck and is unable to continue downloading. If it doesn't appear to be working, I would cancel the download and restart it.

Report any issues have to the LaunchPad support site. You should check the threads there for solutions or workabouts.
