I recently setup a bulletin board in my house with all my goods listed. However when I go to my house on another account, I can't buy anything from the board. I can only purchase things through consignment on the broker. How do I make it so that folks can come in my house and buy my goods without having to pay the 20% broker commision. Thanks!

get a furniture display case
Containers that let you sell direct from your home are made by carpenters, from rare wood level 20 and up. This would mean: fir, oak, cedar, ironwood, ebony. If you are have a good enough harvesting skill to harvest in level 20+ zones, you can harvest your own rare wood. If you can't harvest that high yet, you may be able to find one on the broker or arrange a trade with someone. If you're not a carpenter yourself, find a friendly local carpenter and check their prices! The local in-game crafting channel on your local server is usually a good place to ask for recommendations of reliable crafters, if you don't happen to belong to a guild which has some. There are different types - Salesman's Crates hold anything but are smaller than the other types, which are significantly larger but hold only specific types of things. For example an ebony salesman's crate holds 60 items of any type, while an ebony furniture shelf holds 80 items, but they can only be furniture (house-placeable items). So pick the containers you want, based on the type of goods you normally sell. There is also an item you can /claim in game after you've had an active subscription for 2 years. It's called a Veteran's Display Case and is similar to the salesman's crate, but is smaller than most carpenter made salesman's crates. EQ2Traders has a list of the carpenter-made items and more details <a href="http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g27&menustr=040000000000" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">right here</a>. And remember that if you can't find a crafter you trust, you can always meet in person and use the <a href="http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article=g109" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">commission system</a> to ensure both parties receive their agreed items/payment.

I did just want to add that you can't buy from the merchant board in your own room either. You have to go to a broker or too that person's room. The display cases are the best way to go because you can sell offline and everything but you do have the option of leaving yourself in your room and going into merchant mode.

Don't go to your room and buy from the merchant board. If you have display cases open them and then it will let you buy from that case.

<p>I just wanted to mention that only one character per account can have items for sale at a time. This character is whichever was logged in last and has things listed for sale on the broker. I suggest you choose one to sell with and use shared bank/mail to get him your goods from other characters.</p><p>You can still use broker slots as storage on other characters but if you actually list anything for sale any other character selling stuff is no longer selling.</p>

I hate to sound like a complete idiot, but I can't figure out how to use the Veteran's Display Case. I just came back to EQ2, and started a brand new character, and received this item. But when I try and use it I get an error message about not having the right type house or something. (I'm still in an inn room in Castleview.) Do I just need a bigger house? How exactly does the display case work? It is in my house vault, but won't let me do anything with it. Thanks for any suggestions!

>>>How exactly does the display case work?<<< Open your merchant board and go to the "sell" tab. Drag the display case into one of the slots at the top. Right-click on the display case (which is now in the broker slot) and choose "place" which should let you place the display case in your room. You can't place display cases directly from your inventory. You have to put it into a broker slot first. You do not have to be in your own house to do this -- you can place your display case in any house where you are a trustee. When you access the market board in someone else's house, you access your own market information.
<p>Thank you Karlen thats very helpful.</p><p>Now if I understand this correctly, once you do this the items for sale in that container can be purchased both directly from the house and over the broker as well?</p>

In addition to what others said, I think you need to set the access level of your house to "visitor" so people can come in it and look at the sales display. Look at the options when you enter/exit your house to set that.

>>>Now if I understand this correctly, once you do this the items for sale in that container can be purchased both directly from the house and over the broker as well?<<< Yes. People can purchase your items directly from the broker as usual. As well, on the broker listing for the item it will say "Visit XXX at XXXXX" (for me it says "Visit Karlen at 5 Karana Court, South Qeynos"<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. People who wish to save the broker fee can go to your house and click directly on the sales display to bring up a merchant window. Make sure you place the sales display somewhere that visitors will be able to find it. It is really annoying when you have to search a house and look under all the beds to find the person's sales displays. Try to put them right next to the door or straight across from the door (so you will see it when you zone in).

If I put things for sale on my bulletin board, then go offline, people cannot see my goods anymore?

>>>If I put things for sale on my bulletin board, then go offline, people cannot see my goods anymore?<<< If you have items in your sales slots with a price set for them, then people will be able to buy your items whether or not you are logged in. Clarifications: - after you have been logged out for 24 hours, people will no longer be able to buy items from you until the next time you log back in - if you log in another character THAT HAS ITEMS FOR SALE, the items from your previous character will no longer be available until you log that character in again. If you log in a character that has no items for sale, then there is no effect. - if you have your items in a strongbox or bag in your broker slot, people will only be able to buy your items through the broker - if you have your items in a sales display in your broker slot AND the sales display has been placed in your house AND the rent on your house is paid, then people can come to your house to buy items directly from the sales display (or they can buy through the broker if they wish) - if you have not set a price for an item, it will not be available for purchase. - you only need to pay rent on the house where the sales display is actually placed (since people need to enter the house to access the sales display).
