If any of you folks played eq1, you might remember a plugin for winamp called sneakyamp. Basically it was a keylogger which listened for commands to control winamp in the background. (IE no alt tabbing.) (an example: winamp play spanish bombs"" - typing this in would cause winamp play the song, Spanish Bombs.) Since eq2 does not have a mp3 player built in (and if it did, i'm sure it would be cumbersome and bulky.) I decided to give sneakyamp another go. Problem is, it doesnt work within eq2. Works fine in windows, as well as in a litany of other full screen games (doom3 for example). EQ2 on the other hand, neither full screen and windowed modes work. Suggestions on a workaround? Or, even another program that would allow me to queue music by typing in a command - ie, keep eq2 on my screen.

I was tempted to make my own thread for this, but since one already exists, I'll bump it to save myself some typing.I already know the cause of this - EQ2 hooks the keyboard DLLs so SneakyAmp can't read the input. Why is this even necessary? Sure, prevent it from controlling the input, it doesn't need that. (The plugin simply monitors key presses for commands it recognizes, usually typed into a chat box and then Escape'd away.) I'd gladly switch to a different player or plugin if one existed where I could type something like ::pl -metallica *.mp3"" (my particular command for loading any *.mp3 file in any directory containing "metallica"<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> and fill a playlist or add to it with a particular subset of files, turn on and off shuffle, move tracks, adjust the volume, etc.
