So i'm a lvl 18 wizard and enjoying every minute of it, but... I read that rooting and nuking is a common method of slaughter among wizards but my Arcane Bindings spell is resisted atleast.. 90% of the time. Whats going on here?! please tell me it gets better, or what I need to do to make it better.

Higher grade of the spell the better. Try getting a adept 1 or if u can afford it a adept 3/master 1

It does get better. I have heard in those lvls it does get resisted more. I can't remember because it has been 2 years since I started my wizard. I am level 70 now with app 2 chains and they work wonderfully but like the other person said if you get better than app2 it should help too.

It's resisted a lot more at low lvls, and it helps once you hit 40 and get a group root that stacks with it. I've been a 70 wiz for some time now and I rarely ever have problems with resists. If nothing else, when you get your next upgrade have a sage make an adept 3 for you right away.

you should refer to my snazzy "you people are crazy" thread for more on this issue. I know the wizzies posting responses to you only mean the best, but they haven't gone through what you're going through.

I have.

I'm here to tell you that arcane bindings IS crap, even at Master level. 90% sounds about right. Even with all your spheres maxed, you're still going to encounter this.

If you can slog your way through though, the next root spell holds markedly better, and all the rest after that hold like they're supposed to. Bear in mind that some creatures just resist them better than others, but clearly, arcane bindings is AWFUL. Keep at it though, because it does get much better. It's a test of patience.

I just hit level 50 today myself, and things are completely nutso up here. When did Neriak launch? I did from that day to today, 50 levels, just about completely solo. (I grouped twice). You will just EAT mobs later on. It's sick.

But yeah, root and nuke is unreliable (UNDERSTATEMENT) at your level. Make the best of it and know with faith that it does get much MUCH better.

-Morticandarius Rathbourne of Mistmoore needs a sig.

Just rolled up a wizard. On my way to level 17, Arcane Bindings wasnt a reliable root, aye. But 90% resists? Hu? I reckon my root is resisted about 30%, and I havent even maxed my subjugation. Spell quality is App 2.

Turns out the old answer is right again: "You're doing something wrong."

Try raising your Subjugation Skill. This is a major factor in whether or not it gets resisted. At lower levels it's common not to have high subjugation skill compared to your disruption or focus. A good idea is when in groups practice throwing your detaunt a lot since it works subjugation and will help you not get aggro, too. I even sometimes throw roots in there till the skill gets maxed out even if not necessary each time I level. Also... ...Apprentice 1 and Adept 1's (and all spells in between) have the same resistability now. Fairly certain the upgrade will only increase the snare duration, and maybe it's chance of breaking early or something. Really the culprit is probably just low Subjugation Skill. If this is the issue, it's probably also why your stun gets resisted so much, too...

Oh, and at the later levels I found great success (albeit slow!) with the root/nuke is Ball of Flames/Root over and over. At 50 I mixed in a few Ice Comets here or there, but usually it's enough to take down ^^^ Heroics around my level. They both spool up about the same time.
