Hi everyone Very recently I have bought the EQ2 All-in-one compilation trough Direct2Drive. Distribution of the retail boxes is all but awefull! [Removed for Content] you Sony! It all began with Vazquez supporting and advertising the game on a local board and it pays off, some of us have headed her call to Norrath! The world is great! Already I have met people -Lords and Ladies- who helped me with guidelines and advice! However the game does feels like jumping from fisherprice to lego technic! Although that doesn't scare me at all! I would appreciate it if someone took the time to point me in the right directions: - When I press "L" some kind of tree pops up with neat talens. Could someone explain me how it works, in particular, how do I earn points to get some of those talents - What is the AA everyone brags about? - Is it normal that my lvl9 Berserker has a lot of trouble with killing lvl9 creatures? I have started a conjurer too -I'm still in the process of finding a fun class that suits me- and she has no trouble. In fact, she puts out a lot more damage then my berserker?! - I discovered I can sneak by pressing "C" and I got past a couple of nasty creatures to collect some bark for a quest. Is it realy sneaking? I mean a conjurer i didnt expect to be able to do that? - What classes are particullarly usefull when grouping with others? If you think you have a link to some good guidelines or some words of advice, please do share them with me, I love the game, but i see I have a lot to learn! Thanks

Welcome to the game. I hope you like it. - Talent Trees That is the AA you heared of. You should have two different trees of Talents, one from the EoD expansion and one from KoS. In each tree you can put 50 points to buy new abilities or to enhance already existing one. You get AA experience by doing collection quests, discover new places, killing named monsters which give you XP (so no grey farming) and by doing certain quests that give AA. But you need to be level 10 to use AA. For a better explanation read the Acheivment FAQ http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=348040 - Level 9 monsters Normally you should not have problems unless you attacked an heroic or stronger level 9 monster. In EQ2 not all monsters of a level are equaly strong. When you click on a monster look at the window with its name and level. If the monster is "Heroic" it means that this monster is made to be fought as a group. So its unlikely that you can kill it alone even when its already blue to you. A monster can also be Epic x2 - x4. That monster is made for raids. The number after the x says how many groups should attack it. Also a monster can be stronger or weaker than normally. That is indicated by up to 3 arrows up or arrows down. They have a rather large effect on the power of the creature up to the point that a monster one level higher is easier to defeat than a monster at your level with an arrow up. You also have to keep in mind that the monsters, like you have a class and you might have attacked one of the stronger classes. If that was not the reason why you have trouble with level 9 monsters please post again. Don't forget to use all your combat arts you got through leveling. They have a huge impact. - Conjurer - Berserker damage It is normal that the Conjurer outdamages the Berserker. In EQ2 there are 4 categories in which all classes fall. - Fighter - Scout - Healer - Mage The fighters responsibility is to keep the attention of the monster on itself so that it doesn't attack the other group members. While the name Berserker sounds impressive, fighters don't deal much damage (but they still can solo rather well). Scout and Mages are the real damage dealers in the game. They are more or less frail but can do a huge amount of damage. Healers are responsible for healing a group and except maybe for the fury also don't do that much damage. - "Sneaking" That was not really sneaking, just crounching. It is used to be able to go into small places like halfling homes and as far as I know has no effect on the aggro range of monsters. Maybe you just stayed away far enough so that the monsters didn't notice you (the aggro range of monsters can vary). Or maybe the monsters weren't aggro at all (their name has a red border). Such monster doesn't attack you unless you attack first. All scout classes and some mages get a sneak ability (called invisibility for the mages). In addition there are items in teh game which also let you sneak (Totem of the Chameleon). - Grouping The scout classes (Troubadour and Dirge) are especially wanted in groups as they give very usefull group buffs. And from all fighters, Guardians are the most usefull in a group. But that doesn't mean that the other classes can't get a group. Only when you later want to go on raids with a guild you should be a bit more picky about the class you play. Keep in mind that a normal group only has 1 fighter, 1-2 healers and 3-4 scouts and mages so those classes are simply needed more.

It really is an awesome game once you get a good feel for it. Ask a lot of questions here in this forum, most people are really nice and helpful, although there are a few jerks. Most of your questions have already been answered in other threads, but a search for them will return hundreds of threads, and reading through them all takes a lot of time. It's good that you have made some friends online. They can be very helpful, although I feel guilty asking more than a few questions in game. Don't despair! A month from now you should be fully knowledgeable of the game, and having a great time!

In fact, she puts out a lot more damage then my berserker?! There is a big difference between Berzerkers and Conjurers. Berzerkers are main to dish out the pain, but at low levels they do not have good armor class. Conjurers have abilities to Root and Stun (I think Stun) and get a pet to help them. Also ... is the level 9 creature have a ^ above their name? (Or in the classic style a sort of fancy design around their health bar) This mean they are a bit tougher than a regular level 9 creature. If you see arrows pointing downwards (can't remember what it looks like in the classic style) it means the creatures are slightly weaker than a normal level 9 creature. - I discovered I can sneak by pressing "C" and I got past a couple of nasty creatures to collect some bark for a quest. Is it realy sneaking? I mean a conjurer i didnt expect to be able to do that? Pressing C just makes you crouch. Sneaking is done by the rogue classes (Swashbuckler, Ranger, Assasin and Brigand) have abilities to sneak and Mage classes (like conjurer) have spells to make them and others invisible. - What classes are particullarly usefull when grouping with others? Eh, I won't even try to touch that one. If you think you have a link to some good guidelines or some words of advice, please do share them with me, I love the game, but i see I have a lot to learn! Thanks
There are many helpful guides out on the internet. I would first go through on these boards to see what has been happening in the game with Live Updates. I normally use www.allakhazam.com for Quest help and www.eqtrader.com (I believe that is the correct address) for crafting help.
