View Full Version : Loot getting in way during combat

I've got this problem when I'm fighting multiple mobs. If I kill one and a treasure chest pops up in front of the other mobs, I have a hard time targeting those mobs without accidentally clicking on the chest first and getting stupid dialogue windows in the middle of combat. Is there an autoloot setting where I just automatically pick up everything and get back to fighting ASAP? Maybe a loot macro? Thanks.

You can wait until the combat is over and then loot, or you can move the loot pop-up box to a place on your screen where it doesn't obstruct your view. I'm not aware of an auto-loot program of anykind. There is an option in chat to turn off the roll dsiplay etc though.

Dont know about auto looting, but if the treasure chest is appearing on top of mobs you should be able to target them using the tab button instead of clicking

Never target using the mouse. It's slow. Always use the tab key to select nearest NPC.

Up until recently it always selected the nearest harvest node (fixed in a recent GU) Same actually with mouse selection occasionally - can target a mob, and have it shift beofre i can act to another mob - fighter mobs Iassume I have been taunted, but to eg a mystic?

I've found the same thing frustrating. I kill a mob and can't target the next one. One thing I've started doing is as soon as a mob is dead is wait for one of the remaining ones to attack. You will auto-target that one, so once it happens i just start attacking again. One note on that above. If you detarget your current attacking target by mistake, it doesn't seem to auto target again.

I still use tab sometimes but it really is not a good idea, especially in groups and you are the tank. Use F8 or switch your keybinding to target nearest enemy PC to tab.

I have middle mouse button set to "nearest enemy npc" so I can click on a target if I want or press on the mouse wheel for fast carefree targeting .

Another thing you might want to look at is what point of view you play in. If your playing in 1st person, try backing the camera out to third person view. Gives you a much better angle on what's going on and you easily adjust the angle your seeing the battle at on the fly.

If I'm fighting more than 1 mob & I kill one, I normally just wait until the next one auto-targets for me, hit my auto-attack macro, & go from there. Yea, it's "lazy" targeting, but when you're soloing, it works nicely.

I'm not so sure I'd suggest this tactic for a clothie, tho; it might work, it might not. It works nicely for melee-oriented classes, especially when you're fighting greens that can't hurt you very badly anyway.

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll try out the F8 thing for sure. Also I do play in 3rd person.

Does anyone fight (more so tank) in first person view ? When I am tanking i am spinning my camera all of the time so I know what is coming from all angles . I could not imagine fighting in first person .

I do this when I can, but sometimes on my brigand I have to zoom in the camera to first person in order to see which mob I'm supposed to be attacking.

hi, i´m not fighting in fp, as i normaly play tank and keep my surrounding under control (add´s), even on my assa i keept that in mind. for looting, even as tank, i rightclick the chest (while mob in target) and loot it, without change of target (most of the time). so long s.t. zergosch
