OK PC is fine, Pentium 4 3ghz Hiper thread - 1gb ram and nvidia 6600 with latest drivers.

I have been playing EQ2 for almost 2 and a half years and every time there is a large update I get hell breaking loose. My patcher will not update - it keeps hanging trying to update the launchpad, and then if it does (miracle of miracle) get past this - the patcher locks up on any one of a number of files - eemingly random in name.

I do recall that during the EOF update fiasco, someone posted a list of files you had to delete off your system to fix this problem, anyone remember what they were? I delete all .log, .ini and lp_ files whenever i try again but it is still not working. I have even rebuilt my PC and reinstalled windows XP (SP2) to see if that helps - same probs. Both HDD units are fully scanned and ok, and it happens whichever HDD i install eq2 on - HELP!!!

If i cant get it to work I may have to leave game - and i LOVE it so.....

First, enable to view hidden files: Tools->Folder Options->"View" Tab->Show hidden files or folders. Hit ok. You can delete literally anything here except for EQ2.exe, and it'll re-patch. So I'd say any files other than that could probably be safe to delete. As far as cache goes: There's a cache folder, as well as a logincache folder. May or may not have anything to do with patching, but those can be deleted. Other than cache folders and those files in the root-directory that are non-folders, leave everything alone (especially that gargantuan 'paks' folder. Otherwise you're in for a long re-patch). Make sure not to delete eq2.exe either. So basically, if this IS some kind of corrupt-file problem that is somewhere in EQ2's directory, this'll fix it. If it doesn't and you're still hangin', come back and we'll see what we can look at.

Ok this is now getting really old! I have completely reinstalled the game from scratch several times - no dice.

I have dowloaded the EQ2 installer recommended in the knowledgebase and tried that - same problems. I have also completely removed (Not disabled mind - removed!) my firewall and AV software, still no joy - I cant even get the launchpad to patch correctly - let alone the game itself - at this rate i'm either gonna need SOE support (Fat chance) or i'm gonna have to leave and I hate the very thought of it....

HELP!!!!

Who's your ISP? Do you use a router? what type? Are you wireless?
