First of all I would like to say Hello. I just started playing my wizard three days ago after a two year stint as a ranger. Things have slowed down for my ranger and in between raids I decided to play a wizard. So far I am loving the class. Granted 3 days is a short time to get to know it. That all being said there was just one thing I wanted to say. I realize there are agro issues with the class right now but after looking at the hate changes that were tried out on test I would assume the Devs are looking at that area of the game real closely right now. Perhaps in the future things will get better. (hopefully before I hit T7 <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) Anyways I will keep this short. I look forward to seeing you all out on the battlefield.

Hello, welcome to being a wizard. Glad you're enjoying the class. To say that we have an agro problem is perhaps to mis-understand the class. Our class is supposed to play a game where we flirt with pulling agro at every turn. Look at it this way, tanks play agro in that their job is to generate more hate than the other classes in their party or raid. Wizards also play agro in that it is our job to do as much damage as we possibly can without pulling agro off the tank. That tight rope is pretty much what makes us what we are. As you level up you get de-agro tools that make it easier to do large amount of damage without pulling the mob or mobs off the tank. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the Welcoming BungFoo. Trust me I understand the agro dance...turn it up too much and you end up dead. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I have had several sorcerer classes tell me that right now the Dps vs. Agro (rewards vs risk) for the class is in a broken state. That it isnt worth playing a wizard when a scout does great dps with little risk. I've played the ranger and I can tell ya its no cake walk...but I want to see the other side of the coin to. I definitely don't want to say one is better or one is more broken. But the devs did change hate on test and then decided not to go through with it on live. (For which I am glad) This at least means they are looking at it and giving it some thought. Which could mean better agro management for all. So far the wizard has been a pleasant endeavor and hopefully worthwhile.

<p>not sure why a ranger would pefer a wiz... unless u wanta save some money on arrows... Dont rangers have more mit, more avoid, a bigger deagro spell? also note that ther are more wiz so i think soe tries to get pep to play the other classes and try to find some way to get them to try another class.</p><p>but you should find the agro a problem more with unknown groups and at the lower lvl.. the main thing is to know wer the hate is going from the tank so u know when to aoe or not..</p>

From my experience (and parses) some really well geared scouts do more damage than me and don't seem to get more hate. But if we're fighting a group of linked mobs I tend to do more damage without a hate problem. I need to be careful with high damage spells on single targets though. Simply using the agro control tools we have is usually enough to let me use my highest damage spells without problems though. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe that we have a poor DPS/Agro ratio. I'm not an uber-geared raider though so it could be different in that situation. If there were really a wide spread problem with wizards having a poor dps to hate generation ratio then I'm guessing people would be wary of grouping with us but that isn't the case in my experience. Actually the opposite is my experience, people seem to love having wizards in their groups. As another poster said, warlocks have it way worse than wizards. I hope my thoughts are helpful for you. Questions of Min/Maxing aside, it sounds like you're really enjoying the wizard and I think you'll find the class only gets more fun and rewarding to play as you level up and get new skills and spells.

<p>Really it's easy to play a wiz, just kill stuff before it kills you and you don't have to worry about aggro, and if that fails then death is one heck of a deaggro tool, just be sure to bring a bard to rez you asap, and you can still win the parse <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p>Enrond- t7m.org</p>

In my guild, the assassins and swashies post 2500-4000 dps, almost every last fight.</p><p>And no saying that u can best them because you have Avatar gear, lol. The overwhelming majority of us don't have that, so it's still statistically neglegible. </p>

My reply was tongue in cheek, but depending on the encounter, yeah i can die and still win the parse, and I would'nt trade my ranger or swash for anyone, altho we are between assasins atm <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>Lol, Enrond, u just gave me a very bad idea:</p><p>On pull: Rending Icycles, Forge of Ro, Fireshape (max out those debuffs <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />)</p><p>Then: IN, Fusion, FH + Manaburn, resulting in my death. Yay! Aggro gone.</p><p>Then: Get up quickly, get back to 30% power, buff only partially, and resume the fight.</p><p>My death wouldn't matter as much, since I just used all my best spells and am outa power anyway lol. </p><p>Lol, now I have to try it out...i hope that my guild leader doesn't get any more mad at me, than he already is.</p>

exactly hehe, if its a short fight, dont even buff just wake up and go! altho for this to work you need a manaflow, and quik rez, and then you should be self sustaining on power, and free of aggro <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
