Nope. I really don't want to see endless suburbia as has happened in other games. Personally, I'd like to see the apartments in newbie towns restricted to those under 30 in order to increase the density of the population in the main parts of the cities.

Nope, don't want to be dodging houses while dodging mobs.

sort of one really large house in the middle of a zone like antonica and costs alot thought it would be a good idea for the people who didnt want to live in a city

I guess if it is instanced and you don't get to pick where it goes, then it wouldn't be so bad.

right that is what i was thinking i was thinking to get acsess to buy the house u have to clear the raid version of it which would make a few more 70 raid zones

No thanks - Housing is good the way it is.

I actually like this idea - there are locations that make sense. Example locations might be - Windstalker Village in Antonica Shadow Oak in Darklight Wood Burrows in EL and Rivervale Somborn Windmill in Steamfont

Some nice and special houses here and there (not too many) and in the way they are now in the cities (means the "same house" is used many and many times by other players) then it would be okay for me. Femke.

I don't think anybody who ever experienced it is interested in UO-style housing, but I can see how a few would be interested in small "town" housing as is suggested here. I probably wouldn't move there, but I can see how some would.

that is exactly what i mean i also think they could make them bigger like maybe a 20 room house instead of a 6

well look at it this way have zones like unrest in very out of the way places make them raid zones but after clearing the zone and doing a very hard quest you gain the ability to buy the house version i think that would be a interesting reward for a heritage quest

I came to EQII from 5 years in UO with its endless suburban sprawl. I loathed the housing situation.

Please SOE do not add any housing areas to the game that are not in new cities you create for us.

i kn ow you did not read this bored because you would have realized that this is not an endless suburbia it is a house mabye four in antonica with the same dynamics as the houses in the citys were in one house there are hundreds and if you do not understand that then u know nothing of this topic read the whole post before you write a reply it makes you look like an idiot

I would like some houses here and there spread over the land. A nice log cabin, a tree house and so on. Femke.

Actually, out of city housing could be done without creating the ugly sprawl. All that has to be done is to use those small instances that seem to exist in each and every zone: Firemyst Gully, Bloodskull valley, Cove of Decay, etc. Of course, some of these are small, but some are rather large and would be really interesting sites for player cities in future expansions, should they ever decide to implement such a thing.

very true i like the idea but it needs some backing i also think the house should reflect the zone it is in so it blends with the senery it would also add interesting house options like casltes in ant or tree houses in ferrot but it would add to the world of norath well. it would give people and escape from the city and let them live in the life style they wish if a person wants to live in a tree then he should be able to live in a tree if some one wants to live on a lava pond in lavastorm then they should be able to do that. this is the shattering there should b remnats of civilization every where

There's another reason why it won't happen. PvP players would use their house as a refuge after attacking someone, the way exiles have long used their rathole in Nek. I've heard of brigands who have used Safehouse in Qeynos after having betrayed to Freeport. They were able to access their old house in Qeynos and would use it as a Safehouse point.

true but that means that the only way this could happen if it was restricted to PVE servers

I kinda like the idea, not that I would move to one of them, but it would be a neat option. All that would really need to be done is create an instanced-zone door in pre-existing buildings in variouos spots/zones (Windstalker Village, Thundermist Village, East/West Irontoe, Somborn, etc). As for PvP servers, you can incorporate the same mechanics as with the Clouds in the DoF zones, in that, you would be unable to enter your home if you are engaged in combat.

wow really good thinking also the house instace should resemble somwhat the area does

It could be neat to have housing in say, Thundermist Village, or Rivervale, but would anyone really use it? I doubt it, unless they add all of the city amenities to the area; bank, broker, full-price vendor, crafting instance. Even if they added all those amenities, you'd lose out on sales from your home (no-one will travel to timbuktu to buy from you) and getting writs would be a big hassle. *shrug* I wouldn't be opposed to adding the housing exactly, I just don't see the point.

well what they can do with the banking problem is add a buy able bank that u can acess from you house also add a buy/sell broker window they already have a a mail box the problem with writs ya that wouldbe hard the might put city reps where the houses would be but really the way u get people to use them is make them much larger and better than the ones in the city and people who think living in nek forstest would be cool will have the chance but really another problem is notputting near any magor point which would give people an advantage so it needs to be a sucluded location but also have many player necestys

I wouldn't mind if they added housing to current zones in the earlier expansions. Or, change it to reflect the area. Mu'dul, their housing is nice on the outside, but inside, it's the same as in Qeynos and freeport. Sad that. No housing in KoS. I liked the way they added the nerikian houses, and the goth feel. Also they fixed the size issuse.

Come on, can't the city planers do a retrofit to current houses and apts for the cities of Qeynos and Freeport? Woud love see some tile option for flooring, or better area rugs, that really cover areas, not little bath mat size crap.
