Houses - for everyone?

Now Im new, I got the digital DL of EQ so I dont have a manual to answer this. Are houses for everyone? am I going to have to invest major farming time, money, and . . . well time in general to own a house? Or can the average gamer have one? I have a job, and enjoy sailing, whereas EQ is a hobby for an hour or 2 a day. Will I be able to afford neat things? I've always liked housing in games. decorating my house in SWG was part of the fun for me! Then showing it off (and on an RP server, i can have parties and such!) but im not sure how it all works. is the a decent website about it?

One of your newbie quests should have you buy a Apartment and put some furniture in it when you arrive.  If you ignored all the NPC's with quests over their head then you may not have seen it.  Houses are affordable.  First apartment is 5s to buy and 5s every 7 (real life) days.  More expensive apartments can be bought.  Mine cost me about 2pp to buy and 7g a week rent.

your first house is FREE with a 5 silver weekly upkeep. If you dont pay the 5 silver, you cannot zone into your house until you pay the 5 silver. You cannot lose your house.

<p>You don't have to own a house ever if you want.....there's a thread below where someone wrote that they don't care about houses and he started to change his mind once he played a little more and learned more about them.</p><p>Rather than retype everything I suggest your read the thread below in this forum...something about giving a [Removed for Content] about housing.</p>

Depending on where you are, you might have to go looking for people to quest for... Where did you start and have you made it to a city yet?

I started in darklight forest. I have been to neriak. But I got a quest to kill some slave, and get some people to sell me their businesses. thats it.

the quest giver is there? and which is the foriegn quarters? I never saw any signs. I only know what the teleporters call em >.>

<p>The foriegn quarters are the ones just to the left as you enter Neriak, its where most of the Non-Arasai/DE NPCs are. There should be an "Inn Keeper" just outside the zone in to the Inn for Neriak(yes there should be an Inn PoI on your map). This NPC will sell you some basic Furniture(usually) this stuff will not have status reduction on it(wich is not nessicary for a beging house but will be latter if you want to get into some of the reduced cost housing). Also there are iteams available from the PC TS Class of Carpenter that can go into your house to help you decorate your house. The "Inn Keeper" also will give you the "buying a house" quest that basicly buys you the Inn Room and gives you a Table, Shandlier and a Mirror to place in your house. BTW if you are an Arasia I would recomend getting your alternate Form(available from clicking a book in the Neriak Library) as it allows you to change your "Eyeline" wich makes placing iteams in your house(especally stacking them) easier.</p>

Hit Alt W to bring up the waypoints window.  Click on 8 Indigo Road.  The house is located there and the NPC that gives you a quest to buy a house is right in front.
