Hey. I'm new to EQ2. Sort of. Not really. I've had the game since a month or 2 release, just never really got into it. My highest character is a 34 monk I never touch anymore since its....well. It's a monk. And I've had 6-7 mid 20's characters. 3 of them being SK's. So here's the deal. I want to get into EQ2 again and all that, but I'm having a lot of trouble choosing a class. SK Is by far my favorite class, but I have a feeling I'll want to raid. All the recruiters I talked to from raiding guilds on my server basically said....if you want to raid, reroll a scout. So I did. I made a swashbuckler and got bored, fast. I also made a ranger and thought I'd stick with it. I got bored fast, again, but told myself it would get better and kept going. It was cool killing things before they got to me but...just wasn't into it. My ranger is 24 now, and I havn't really played in a few days since I just don't like the class. I always had fun playing SK's, it's a complex class that when played correctly can pull off a lot of nice things. I like being able to solo, since groups usually end up slowing my xp/hour, unless we can really get going. Basically, should I bite the bullet and just level an SK all the way? I've always been an end-game kind of person in whatever I play, and I always choose a class based on what they are in the end, and pay little attention to what comes in between. If not SK, then what? Any suggestions? I like tanking, but if I raided on an SK I would probably prefer to DPS with a crazy amount of int/spell crit. So hmm. Suggestions?

But I say, keep going with the sk, you might get lucky with a raid, if not. Well, at least you can fund a quick rise of another toon.

If you want to raid as a DPS specc'd SK, I'd stick with that. Not worth paying real money to play a second choice toon imo. Raid spots opportunities can pop up anytime. Work on your toon, make a name for yourself, start poking around the raid scene on your server and getting to know the players.

Play your SK. I have a 70 SK and he is by far my best farming character, which in turn helps all of my other characters.

That being said...you most likely will never get your SK into a good raiding guild. They just don't need/want them. You'll hear all kinds of peeps talking about how good their SKs are in raids and how people just don't understand what a SK brings...yada yada yada. They're too far in the forest to see the trees.

The advice you recieved from the raid leaders you contacted was sound. If you want to be BELOVED by your entire raid team roll a dirge. They're interesting and challenging (which I feel is a trait most people who play SKs like in a class) as well as one of the most important classes to have in raids. Most raid forces could use 3 dirges (and many have 1 or none, as dirges are not common). The nice thing is if you become a "necessary" player to your guild, you'll be allowed to bring your SK to some raid zones that are on farm status (like Labs when your guild is owning the zone) and no one will complain.

If you are serious about raiding with your SK, just do it. You can bring your Dirge alt to the zones on farm status if it comes to that (that's what I'm doing actually).
