Hello As I wrote, I'm totally new to this game - I've bought the e-download for the all-in-one pack and I'm patching as I write. I've never been much into crafting in all the MMO's I played in the past. A quick browse showed me that I'd probably be a provisioner in this game (for the least amount of job). My main question is - can I manage without crafting at all? I'm one of these guys who really enjoys questing, RPing, socializing, exploring etc. I really detest crafting. Will I be able to manage in EQII without crafting? or do I have to do a bit of the "bad" to gain the "good" which the rest of the game promises to be? I just hate timesinks that make playing a "job" - I couldn't care less foraging in the wood for some mushrooms to make that extra pie so that my cooking skill can go up 1 point. I'd rather much play the game. I know that for some of you playing is also crafting, but for guys like me - is it a must or absolutely free choice on my part? Thanks for the help Nex.

HQ quests which require level 9 artisan crafting and don't use the commission system. The other HQs with a high level crafting component can be done for you by another player using the commission system. You don't need to craft to be a successful adventurer and, more-or-less, you don't need to adventure in order to be a successful crafter (it's harder to be a pure crafter than a pure adventurer).

You want to run the initial tradeskill quest (Starting a Tradeskill Profession) and ding 10, since a few HQs require some T1 crafting. The only other thing in the game that requires tradeskilling is a quest in the Fallen Dynasty adventure pack, where you need to be a level 50 crafter to do the quest (the reward is a fairly big harvestables-only bag). Beyond those two things you can skip crafting entirely if you want to.

What does HQ stand for please? The crafting in this game is way funner than others. I found myself hurting for money, so I took up crafting to help. I'm now in the process of making alts to do different professions. I'm on a pvp server so gear is very important. On non pvp servers crafting isn't a must. I suppose I could join a guild and leech items, but I rather earn my stuff.

HQ = Heritage Quest. Best rewards, usually group efforts.

Nexuriel wrote:
My main question is - can I manage without crafting at all?
There are a few quests that require crafting, but you don't have to be above level 9 for those, and you don't have to do those quests to enjoy the rest of the game. Crafting is optional and many players won't go near the stuff.
