I was thinking the other day about what would be a really cool pre-order game. And I was also thinking about how new players could view the classes in EQ2. So my idea would be to make an offline character creator tool. In essence it would be a minigame. You can make your basic character, design your avatar like you can currently in EQ2. Then you can sample your character in higher level or class specific gear. Then best of all you can take a test run of your class in three purpose build encounters. I would create a basic zone which would have some solo, group and raid content. You can join an NPC group or an NPC raid and go through a raid round with a high level NPC with your class. The offline zone can be played again and again as you try out different classes as well as their class spells. This will give you the ultimate taste of what your class is like and what goodies are waiting for you in the future. I think it would really wet new players appetites so they stick it out in the lower levels.
