Hi all, I'm new to game, still learning. Is there any advantage for me to stay in default city up to level 17, BEFORE betraying? Or should I just do it right off the bat as soon as I can? Or something in between? I just made it to Kelethin, i'm lvl 7, going to explore the city first. I'd be grateful for any suggestions! Thanks! btw if anyone is wondering, I love being a dwarven cleric, but cant stand the "goodie" side I have more fun on the evil side of the shop...

I did it for character reasons, but others have indicated they did it to explore more content. On the whole it's a pretty big pain in the buttocks, so I wouldn't suggest doing it 'for fun'.

I'm definitely doing it for character reasons. I'm not interested on staying on the good side any longer than I need, unless of course there are character development reasons I should stay and develop, before starting the betrayal. I'm still wondering if I have anything to gain staying on this side to develop, before crossing?

I think a lot of the quests have similar mirrors on both sides too, so you don't really miss anything.

In that case, how do I start the betrayal from Kelethin? I met everyone in town (I think) and didn't see a way to start it. Thanks

There is a male fae pathing back and forth over on the side of town near the granite hills lift (not quite that far but on one of the platforms close to that) that starts the betrayal. If you hail him he'll start complaining about how stifling Kelethin is and what not. I can't recall his name. I might be mistaken but I think I didn't see the quest icon over his head until I was lvl 10 on my fae. I could be wrong though that would explain why you didn't notice him.

The higher level you are, the less guards will attack you. Just don't betray after 50, because spells prices are crazy.

Those time I have betrayed, I have done it between level 10-15. This is because its alot cheaper, and you mostly do betray for character aspects, so lower level you got faster you get to be the right class/race/city combo.

For to start betrayal you will have to be min lvl 10 to receive the quests. Just in case you don't know yet, your dwarf will become inquisitor once you are finished with your faction work for Freeport or Neriak.
There is one thing you might want to do before betraying...if you care about this kinda thing....

There are books that give quests that are available only to characters on one side or the other, kelethin and qeynos both have quests (different from each other). You might want to look into picking some of those up before betraying. Once you have the book you can do the quest it gives regardless of city alignment.

I know kelethin has access to lots of catalogue quests that aren't available elsewhere that i've found, and qeynos has a bunch of book quests.

Too late! I started betraying yesterday. OMG painful! Started at 9am, kept at it until about midnight. I'm almost there. Nobody said I would have to run lost thru vast areas, with monsters all level 25+. I get killed alot, usually one shot slaps from creatures I didn't even see!

WOW, what a journey! I'm level 11 now, leveled up without swinging once! Must be get yer buttt kicked XP. I wound up dead (again), stuck in a Commlands town, and the guards wouldn't let me out! DEAD. DEAD. DEAD. Argh!!!!! Armor down to 30%. Now I know what a bug splatter on a windshield feels like! I complained in 10-19 chat, and was quickly flooded with a half-dozen people wanting to do the betrayal stuff too, and another half-dozen who had recently finished it. I met a sweet girl that changed toons, and came to help me! OMG THANK YOU!!! She lead the way distracting all mobs, and got me all the way to the Neriak area and started me on the right quests. She had recently done them herself, and saw I was trying the same thing. I'd be lost without her! My faction status is now +10,000, doing the citizen stuff next. When I'm done with this, I think I will return the favor by helping the next person go through this, after I level up a bit of course! I admit I was very frustrated and overwhelmed, but now that I'm almost done, I'm very happy and feel it was worth it! As for recommended level, I recommend either 10, or over 30. Anything in between will not help at all, and will actually cost you more money to retrain all your skills. At 10, sure you get splatted alot, but some mending vendors will still talk to you, and repair your armor. I had three repairs along the way. It is alot of work, and you better have a good reason to do the betrayal quests, ie character related. If you are not happy with your current city, you might just want to start a new character, because unless you've been there, you might not like the next city, and then it's too late! So far, I'm happy with the switch. So far, I'm the only dwarf running around Neriak on my server. Haven't seen any others... yet...

As another dwarf in Neriak, I welcome you! (probably not same server though, lol)

Glad you got through it. With time you'll learn some tricks to do things a bit faster, I think I got to +10,000 in about 4 hours. I did it at level 14 because you get a master 2 spell and that alone is enough to turn the tide in most battles.
