What am i doing wrong?

Rangers my level (not all but a lot of them) are 2 hitting me even after their nerf.

Do I have too little stamina? I have mastercrafted gear, all adept 3 and master 1 to 2 spells etc but I never even have a chance to cast a spell so that does not matter. I literally go down in TWO hits with rangers my level. This is after the ranger nerf.

Can anyone tell me what AA, what gear, what stats I can get to at least give me a chance to cast even one spell.

Thanks.

Well. AGI line will help you cast faster, might help you get some spells off. But lol you'll still die quickly. I only have limited experience with coercers in PvP. Mine currently (level 21) is in exile, which really doesn't help. And at that level w/o the reactives it definately hurts. HP/Sta will help you stay up longer, but cloth is pretty weak and they'll chew through it. I think they're fine in group. But solo is pretty tough.

Don't feel bad though. My bard gets killed pretty easily by rougue types too.

Yea I am ok on other classes even other scouts, I die some, I win some, it all washes out. With rangers, however, even after their nerf its horrid.

I am going to get some stam and health gear, I had focused so much on power I never run out of power lol, but never alive to [Removed for Content] use it.

Fancy that.

I figured a squishy would be hard, and I wasnt solo but he burned through the necro in my group just as fast as me. We had absolutely no pvp fight, it was simply a bang bang your dead type situation. (on both of us even with the necro's great pet etc)

This isn't a Coercers need help post, more designed to answer your question. There is nothing you can do but group with a healer or see them first. We are the only clothies, which are already squishy, that have no pet bodyguard or enhanced magi wards. What you see is what you get.

On top of that, you must be casted upon or damaged to do any real type of damage. Against burst classes, you should mez, stun and run hehe.

Get the drop on them before they unload one big attack on you and things change. You can lock them down, drain their power at lower levels or for at higher ones put the reactive stun on them. Rangers are still going to eat your lunch.

I usually root from distance, wait for them to cure. Then mez, load all reactives and debuff. Mez wears off, I stun, throw on DOTS and hopefully if I have a pet, sick it on them. Then unload, throwing in more reactives and stuns as needed. Using this method, I have a decent chance to win against any class, IF I have a pet, without, it is 40-50%. If I see them first hehe.

Hope that helps.

At 70, I can still be one-shotted and two-shotted by a ranger, even after the changes. I include the auto-attack with their combat art. So they could hit me with one of their CA's, then get lucky with a double ranged attack. On top of that, lucky to crit on that double attack.

I just call it luck while fighting scouts, rangers mostly.

Since you're a power regen class, you shouldn't choose max power over max health. At those character traits, go ahead and choose max health. I also chose stamina at my character traits because my class already buffs agility and intelligence, and I'm also specced down Agility and Intelligence (for raid DPS).

Ive already accepted that rangers are the bane of my existence. I expect to fail against them. It's good though, cause, like today, when a white ranger tried to gank me 4 times, and i beat him every time, you feel extra special

Obviously mezzing them as fast as possible helps, but often you're too low to be able to soak up damage from them. In this case, i usually find it best to get in melee range, load up the debuffs, and hope for the best. Dont forget to pop reek of terror as well, that can give you those extra seconds you need to survive.

Reek of Terror (40) and Amnesia (55) are the biggest lifesavers in PvP. Oh, and Blink too, but not as often.

As long as you can accept deaths, you'll be fine PvPing.

I live her man... but I see you are here making us look scared again. jk... but seriously, we can kill bad to decent rangers. However, a really good ranger will pretty much own you. Respect and accept the /revive. They will respect you for not fleeing like everyone else.
At lower levels, there's only one real strategy to use against rangers. First, you have to have see stealth up whenever you're pvping.

Second--you aren't going to see them first, because they can track you--but you need to get them mezzed before they get off their big ranged attacks. Their range is greater than yours w/their main ranged CAs, so use terrain and line of sight rules to your advantage as you get close enough to mez.

Then, you have to debuff, root, and get right next to them. Whatever reactives you have, lay them on. Break mez with stifle. Cast your short cast-time nuke. Lay on DoTs (helps to have the two single target ones macro'd to one key). Cast your short casttime nuke. Lay your reactives on again, if needed/possible.

Most important: stay near them. Most of the big ranger CAs require them to be a certain distance away. Their dps up close isn't too bad.

Usually you'll still lose with this, because of their greater range + track, but it gives you a fighting chance....

tu amigo especial,

Schmutzen of Vox

edit: the poster above who mentioned blink(aoe clear target)/amnesia (long pvp stun)/reek of terror (ae fear) was right. the fear may not help too much against rangers, but the other two are very effective
