Ok 1st off Chi's reuse timers effect itself in case you didn't know. It's not a 15 minute reuse timer, it's a 10 minute reuse timers. Well since that was the case I thought I would test a few things out. What I found was Chi would would effect any skill/spell I casted while Chi was in effect. So when Chi was available I was able to cut Heal, Tsunami and Crane Twirls reuse timer down to 2 minutes. They don't go back up to 3 minutes after Chi drops so once SOE fixes the STR (If they do) I think Chi will become a viable AA. While the whole AA line is useless to me since I have weapons I only picked it to test out. I have a 10g respec coming to me also so I'm going to try a few more combinations out. Just thought a few might like my findings.

When the 'new' str line was posted i was seriously considering doing str/wis. Chi is just a super Jcap with the extra haste/dps and would make an awesome ability to open a named or multi mob encouter with. All taunts/tsunami/craneflock getting lowered recast from the start of an encounter could really let us push some massive ae agro control and allow us to use our life saving abilitys more often. yeah even having a 10 min recast after its reduced it own timer is a bit long but it can be saved for those times when u really need to get some agro from the go or just to push your parse up on a hard encounter. I think if they lowered the timer on something like that we'd be beserkers in leather without the frisbee or plate miti

Chi -> Rescue -> Tsunami -> Mit Buff and this should put you at the top of the hate list and cut the reuse time of Rescue and Tsunami. You might even be able to get off a second mit buff depending on the timers.

Before this Chi was a great tool for me in taking on nameds. The change to chi made it considerably better, now that there is no need to worry about it running out before the named is dead and suffering the chi 'penalties'

Useing Cacophony of blades, chi, and crane flock, i was 2-300 dps shy of our rangers last night in DT.

Great burst damage for named fights or trash inbetween named.

Still not a defineing roll for a raid monk tho.

The way it was with the .75% ca increase would have been awesome, and im irritated at the cry babies that got it taken away.

Seeloc

Can you use Chi with weapons or do you have to be unarmed?

That totals out to 6%. Honestly, how much dmg does that add to our already low damage CAs? 6% CA damage is pathetic, and next to useless.

What they should have done is given us double attack while using weapons. I don't know of a single monk who wasn't expecting being able to double attack with their weapons from the update, and then they decide to take it out entirely and give us an AA that is pathetic. I'd rather have the current live STR line than 6% CA dmg and 300 Mit boost anyday, if for nothing other than its useable for lower lvls. Their proposed changes were bs, and an insult.

Besides, we are brawlers. Despite the differences between bruisers and monks, brawlers are supposed to be fast, efficient, and swift in their strikes. And yet, we don't have a natural double attack except without weapons, or for 16 seconds. When you think of double attack, do you think of Druids, who get 40%? Or Guardians, who get 60%? It's an insult that we don't have natural DA.

Don't get me wrong, though. I do like Chi quite a bit. If the max points for the line were 60, I'd be using Chi right now to help my setup. The burst damage setup you tested here sounds good too. It's just not really enough to get us a spot on a raid, let alone get us the reputation of being usable on raids.

You can use Chi with weapons Hereo.

Well, assuming I wanted to try Chi, someone tell me how to quickly unequip weapons in the middle of combat with minimal DPS loss... because the 3 abilities above it require empty hands. Also, factor in the fact that your auto attack DPS will drop significantly, if you have good weapons, for the duration your weapons are unequipped. You will also lose procs and such things that are based on having a weapon in hand.

I realize I can use Chi with weapons equipped, but I have to use 22 points in the tree to get it. Unless there is a way to quickly unequip weapons then you lose 14 AA points just to get Chi.

Anyway, I'd appreciate some clues on how to quickly unequip weapons while fighting an epic target.

There is a 2 second delay if you are in-combat for each item you unequip.

The command is "un primary" and "un secondary"

I played with the CHI ability over the weekend doing 4/4/8/7/1 Wis and Str 8/8/5/2/1 --Chi being 10 min recast wasnt worth the DPS burst it gave and losing crits really hurt my parses.....I swapped back to int/wis

Also, if you really want to try it, just have your weapons in your hotbars. You will still get the delay for unequiping but it is a pretty easy way of doing it.

I have my weapons in my hotbar, and I have macors to equip my second hand. What I haven't figured out yet is a way to UNEQUIP my hands very quickly and practically, without using inventory and right clicking, so I can use the STR line. I'm already suffering a 2 second delay to unequip in combat, per hand.

Macro:

command

Line 1: un primary

Line 2: un secondary

Hit the same Macro button twice when in combat......
