Thank you domino for giving tradeskills the attention it needs. To me as a carpenter of nearly 3 years, I have felt like tradeskills have been forgotten by the dev team. I've seen through your interaction through the forums that you really care about tradeskills and want to reinvigorate tradeskilling. I love what you did with GU36.

My only request is that you supply at least one new furniture item with every GU since carpenters have so few recipes. That way you can focus on fixing other issues with tradeskilling but still keep the content fresh. I would rather have a little bit of new tradeskill content every month than to be bombarded with new content at every expansion pack.

Thanks again Domino. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

Nice work Domino. Keep this up you might actually give people an interest in tradeskilling. I can only say this - for those that say devs are just too busy to be involved in the forums - bah! Good interaction with your user base with make your efforts more appreciated.

<claps approvingly>

Awesome work! Tell me, given Domino's record in the than two months-ishs since she started at SOE, who else is actually excited about the Expansion as it relates to tradeskills?

I haven't been excited about tradeskilling in a very very long time. Now, I wonder. Are carpenters ever going get the recipe for the Halasian boiling pot back?

The new house items are great!!!! They are my favorite part of the live update. I'm not a carpenter yet but I'm going to start one now that they are getting more attention and also because housing is one of my favorite aspects of this game. Thanks Domino for putting effort into this part of the game. It is greatly apprecitated.

*thumbs up* Good update for tradeskills with the color for loams, knowing what class the CA/Spell is crafted for, and the addition of carpenter recipes.

It was time to level the carpenter anyway, as we just got guild level 30 and I need status reduction.

Calthine wrote:
who else is actually excited about the Expansion as it relates to tradeskills?
I'm honestly not very hopeful with the expansion in regards to tradeskills. I'm probably more content with whats been done so far than RoK possibilities. I think it will be alot of the same rehashed stuff with upped stats from the previous tier. Especially for Sage, same old spells and ancient teachings line since T6. I'm more hopeful that there may be some TS quests in RoK possibly, but not trying to get my hopes up on that. I think the new dressing room in GU36 will be the most helpful for classes like carpenters, which is a great thing. I know I will be more likely to buy something for my house that I can see before spending the plat on it. I'd still like to see a recipe filter over the UI mouseover but maybe in time. I'm just going to see what happens and go from there. Through the last few betas since DoF I am more hopeful as they have improved things for tradeskillers testing there. We'll see I guess.

I also want to thank Domino for doing such a great job. I only got to make a few things that were new before I had to leave for work today and I was very happy that everything I made looked nice. Love the dressing room/preview feature . I went to my room to place a few things and was equally pleased that everything placed correctly. Was really dreading placing the xegonite knight's sconce (used to new things disappearing hehe) but it looked fantastic. Keep up the good work Domino, I am excited about my crafting again

No. Confident there will be no head scratching moments like there have been since launch? That I'll give. Nuhus states a lot of the rest of my concerns so I'll just what I've been saying- Domino is great and deserves a statue next to Lucan for her presence and effort however, she still works for SOE and under someone else's direction. Just because she is great doesn't mean she's got everything required to get trades up to something actually resembling content. When I actually see what's what, I'll decide when to come out of the skeptic/doom and gloom corner.

The ones I remember are parts of HQs and require either a Glimmering Tooth or a Sparkling Stone. Since they are no longer difficult to to get changing them should not be a problem though. The distinction is used so little that think it should be eliminated, or used more, or used more and the number of types reduced. Perhaps change every thing to a stone, except when there is something that specifically wants a different type.

Look forward to another pass of harvestable icons in the future, however, the art folks are hard at work on tons of other important stuff and harvestable icons are a fairly unimportant thing in comparison, so I told them not to stress about rushing it! At some point however more changes will come and when it does I'll try to match colors up better. Thanks for all the positive feedback, I'm so glad everyone's enjoying the changes! I'd also like to correct the impression that I'm doing this all on my own -- pretty much everyone's being super helpful in supporting tradeskills, and I also have a wonderful apprentice ogre called Olihin who's doing the work of three gnomes helping out in the mornings before he goes on to his real job in CS. He's actually the one who cooked up all those chocolate and fudge recipes! And of course Ilucide has been showing me all the tricks, Lyndro did the script behind the tradeskill respec and much more, Jindrack is the one who make those doors behave, Rothgar showed me how to tweak those roots in Sinking Sands, and pretty much the whole coding team (especially Silverfrost, Zoltaroth, Autenil, Archonix, and too many others to list) have been heroes doing the clever behind-the-scenes stuff. See, you never knew how many people loved ya!

While love might be too strong a word (DH is watching me type and he might think he's married into the wrong orientation) I feel hope rising anew for the first time in Forever! For some time I think I've felt that the only way for things to get better was to return to the past, but nowadays the future seems like it might be a good place too. From what I have read some good thinking and planning is going on. <Pat on the back> I wish we'd had the outdoor crafting stations a long time ago. They are so nice! I think the wave crested long before they hopped on the board... but I've noticed that in Neriak they are used a lot and it makes the Market feel very alive. Hopefully this will spread to other cities. If we had a few WO givers strategically located near brokers and banks in those other places, it might bring adventurers and crafters together in game space a bit more. I like the way the game is beginning to bring in ideas that enhance community. Sometimes the little things can make more impact than the World Events.
