View Full Version : Duo to see all the content EQ2 has?

I know the whole "what's the best duo" question has been asked many times, and I've used the search feature to read many of the threads. What I haven't seen asked is what the best duo is if I want to see all the content EQ2 has to offer, IE a duo that is very tough and can run heroic quests and through instances by itself. I will be 2boxing this duo. Right now I'm playing an illusionist/wizard combo, both of them are at 17, but it seems like a very fragile duo- if root breaks early on a ^^ heroic and my root is down, that mob will tear my enchanter apart! So is there any other duo out there that can do it better? Ideally, one of the two classes will be a desirable raid class at 70. Thanks in advance for the advice.

There is no duo that can do ALL of the EQ2 content at the level for which the content is designed. A duo can't do content meant for a full group. A duo can't do content meant for a raid. A duo CAN rip through solo content faster than a single character. And two-boxing lowers your effectiveness on both characters, I don't care how good you are or think you are (I have two-boxed in many games for years). Still, you are more powerful running 2 toons than one.

A couple of combinations I've run in EQ2 and have found effective are: Fury/Monk, Templar/Ranger

I think a monk/bruiser paired with any healing class will be your best bet.

a better combo (for me) is the SK/fury duo. not as much healing but tons of good effects for a fighter and decent healing. We can quite often take on heroic groups 3-4 levels above us and win. Last night we duo'ed (at 44) Gykor, the last kill for the BBC 3 lvl's higher triple up quite handily. Hopefully neither has been nerfed this time.

Coercer + Wizzy can duo the entire game except raids MMC and Unrest.

I've had success with a monk/fury combo. Monks eventually get a group FD is things go horribly wrong. I don't know any duo that can easily handle an instance like Crypt of Valdoon and definitely not Unrest. Duoing may become decidedly more difficult in EoF isntances. Acadechism we duoed though. D'Vinn was a bit tough though and it took FOREVER to get to the end.

Not that my duo is the best combination by any stretch, but in contrast to what was mentioned above, as 70 bruiser and 70 illusionist I can duo CoV easily, just takes a while. CMM is basically out however, as is much of Nizara. Unrest I can do a portion of, again it just takes a while, likewise for HoF (though I haven't gone back and tried it again recently). Epics are out entirely of course (since they are essentially unstunnable). Everything else is pretty much doable, and you can skip alot of the intervening trash content with this duo.

Berserker + fury strikes me as a good combination btw, though I have not tried it.

SK/Fury can duo heroic instances. It's still a little slower than bringing in 6 people, true, but we've done it, more than once, effectively. Of course, that said the SK is fully mastered and geared for the raiding and the Fury isn't that far behind, but blowing through Runnyeye oh those levels back was a blast. *cackle* And now we do some of the KoS zones. (My Fury is still only 59.) But, yeah, I just looked back up and saw someone else suggested the same. The SK's lifetaps and AoE hits like Pestilence, combined with the Fury's few but solid AoE abilities, mean that as long as the Fury is quick on her cures and knows how to manage power effectively the duo is very survivable. And in case of emergency the Druid AA Rebirth + the SK's Feign Death mean quick and easy recovery.

An efficient and decently geared (not even raid gear) duo can do group content. My husband (beserker) and myself spent a great deal of time duoing things over the past couple of years and were able to do much 'group' content as a duo. And neither of us had any raid gear until we were 70 already.

Of course we weren't two boxed =) and yes, that can really reduce the effectiveness of one or the other character.

My gf and I levelled up as troub/fury 1-70 (and 100AA's) in under 3 weeks... The troub having poor dps, no taunts and being a bit squishy means maybe it would have been faster as say swash/fury or brigand/fury. Rogue/Defiler works nicely too.

As troub/fury we duo'd a lot of tough heroic content - it's more about skill than the perfect class combo - I'm sure everyone will agree.

I duo an Illusionist/Fury. Sure, they are both fairly fragile, but make an excellent combination (though it probably helps that my Illusionist is in mostly full fabled with all master spells.) They certainly make an exciting pair. There are tons of "tricks" and techniques that come in handy playing these classes at the higher levels.

I also have a Defiler/Monk combo, though this duo has only reached the late 30's in levels. I find it a bit frustrating (I think it's much easier 2box healing with a Fury...) but I see potential for this pair in higher levels also.

Good luck with whichever combination you choose!

Oh! And as for duoing group content, it can be done (and it doesn't have to take a ridiculous amount of time.) I actually love doing group content/intances that are green to me. The gear drops/rares are still good, and it's still a challenge.

A friend of mine boxed coercer/paladin. He literally did all of the PoA parts of Claymore while duoing. Now he was raid-equipped, but still, it's possible with that duo (this was pre-EoF). So seems pretty powerful.
