I'm quickly approaching Level 32 and will be upgrading my armor to mastercrafted. This is my highest eq2 character and I'm not that knowledgeable about the different armors. I've noticed the leather has nice stamina/wisdom but is lacking intelligence. I mostly solo. I know the cloth has lower mitigation, but how much does that really matter? If my intelligence is higher, I assume I will be killing faster. Any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

When I was levelling my Fae Fury (now my main) I used the imbued Mastercrafted cloth robe & pants in t4-t5. Everthing else was leather.

Robes actually look good on a Priest class -- very "healer-esque" and both the MC robes/pants have nice amounts of STA/INT/WIS and decent IMBUES (which you can't get in the Woven leather set). You lose a small portion of mitigation (but gain avoidance).

Also.. the BEST thing about wearing a robe is it covers up the mish-mash of colors/textures you get from wearing multiple different armor pieces that aren't in the same "set". A robe will leave you looking very fashionable regardless of what else you wear -- plus they have a cool hood you can use if you wish to look dark & mysterious.

IMO you always go with the high MIT armor that you can wear...

Now I'm not saying that you go with MIT over a much better piece of armor stat wise, but as a Fury, you go with leather (even though you can wear cloth) and as an SK you wear Plate (even though you can wear chain)...etc...etc. unless you are a crazy RPer and then you do whatever your crazy self wants.

Yeah when I am choosing armor for my fury I look for 5 factors and weigh them all out.

Wis/Int/Power/HPs/Mit

A small difference in the stats I usually go for the highest mit, but for a large difference in the stats, I may take a small mit hurt.

I almost exclusively solo with my fury so having to go face to face with mobs, I like to get my mit as high as possible.

If I ever had a chance to level the Fury again, I would absolutely use the STA/WIS/INT cloth armor for all 7 pieces. Those 3 stats are vital for a fury, unlike mitigation. Also worth noting, you no longer gain avoidance by using a lighter armor, that was removed months ago.

Cloth vs Leather for a Fury really boils down to one thing.

Are you getting hit?

If your style is root nuke, back off, root nuke then you are playing simularly to a mage and will be taking less damage. In this case you will be trying to get your INT as high as possible to burn the mob faster, which usually means cloth.

If your style is to cast a heal over time spell on yourself and then jump in and pummel the mob while casting then you will be taking more damage, and will therefore need to get your mitigation, STA and AGI higher. In this case you need leather.

In a group if you are primarily healing then focus on survivability, which again means take the leather.

Essentially the only time I would take cloth is if you are spending most of your time nuking and keeping distance between yourself and the mob.

Thanks everyone for replying. Lots of good information in this thread. I decided to go with mostly leather with 1 cloth piece, only because I have aa in intelligence and I had a lot of rare leather pelts! A guildy was making the armor, so I collected the mats myself....I didn't get one cloth rare while collecting and I find it difficult to purchase what I know I can get myself. Since then, I've leveled to 37 and have enough blood ore to get the mossy leather set. ...I'm geeked about getting that armor!

I have another question if anyone could answer. If my intelligence is 230 at level 37 and I make some adornments increasing it to around 250 (just throwing numbers out there), will there really be any change in how much damage I do? I'm wondering if there is some cut off point/cap to stat benefits.

Thanks for all the advice! I will be back with more questions I'm sure. I'm loving the fury.

very important decision since you can only carry one armor piece for any given slot at once. seriously, I understand the op is fairly low level and probably not going to have several plat in the bank to twink himself out with. but that may or may not be the case these days since you can rack up the cash pretty fast by selling adepts and collect bits. my lvl 10 bruiser alt harvested several cracked bones while messing around and made 3 plat off that alone. getting back to the point, my inquisitor can wear plate - but i also carry around chain and leather for stats/resists and effects. I have 3 bank boxes on my character filled with situational gear. I have created macros labeled dps, tank, heal, poison, cold etc so with one button i am equipped for any given circumstance. If you are in a group and not getting hit - then max your int (edit: and WIS !!! after all we are healers heheh) at the expense of mit when you are soloing equip a more balanced mixture of armors to give yourself avoidance/mit and dps.. experiment for yourself and find out what works best for you at any given time
