View Full Version : Very Confused. Could use some help.

I have a L20 mystic and L20 SK on separate accounts. Im going to twobox them for levels and quests and whatnot, but they are not going to be an exclusive duo team. What I mean is I want to play both of these classes, and for the sake of the convenience of levelling, Im going to twobox them where convenient. I dont intend to build them so that they compliment each other. So I realize they arent a good combo because they arent intended to be. But I wanted to mention the mystic because that kind of healer nullify could some AA's for SKs that would be normally be needed without a healer. Now that that's out of the way...

Im looking over the SK AA's, both trees, and trying to figure out the best combo. I'm prolly gonna be sitting on 60, maybe 70 AAs tops by the time Im 70, if I make it there.

The crusader Int line appears to be a no brainer all the way to the end, yes?

The crits in the STA line look good, but melee crits arent that important for an SK?

What about that last one in the STA line? What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

The crusader Int line appears to be a no brainer all the way to the end, yes?

Pretty nice line, great for DPSer SK....not that neccessary for Tank SKs. Most like it, I didn't take it and I don't miss it.

The crits in the STA line look good, but melee crits arent that important for an SK?

The melee crits aren't that important, no. Help a little though...personally, I put no more than minimum points in it on the way to the one I wanted.

What about that last one in the STA line? It looks like a Tsunami, but I dont know what the recast is, and maybe it's broken all to hell. I know SKs dont get much lovins.

Works wonders for me....but is only semi-effective against the tougher Epic encounters, and not at all on some. That's changing with GU 36. If it makes it to live, it will be arguably the best single survival ability for any tank class imo. Tanking SKs dream. DPSer SK would find it a waste most likely. Currently 15 min recast...GU 36 cuts it to 10 mins.

The STR line also looks quite good, but perhaps the STA line is better? I see that hate transfer in the 4th option, but with DM, does it matter that much? I ask because Im prolly not going to stick 50 AA's in the KoS tree and so I need to pick carefully.

STR is a nice line too, but the EoF Hate line and regular tools are quite powerful if you're worried about hate. Lotta tanks debate between INT and STR for both DPS and Hate. Lot are still split on it. If I was to rearrange my AAs I would consider it though.

In the EoF tree, Siphon Hate looks insane. That seems like a nobrainer, yes?

Was my first choice for raid tanking. Reaver seems to be pretty popular though too, especially for grouping, soloing, PvP, and non tank raid roles. I love the hate syphon, and don't seem to have aggro issues (and I'm completely defense specc'd and geared). It's working exceptionally well for me.

Reaver also seems insane, but it says it has a recurring health cost, but fails to mention how much health. It could be that the health cost makes that ability seem significantly less attractive.

Thoes who use it seem to love it. The health cost must not be a large factor....I was never much interested in it, so I never looked into its exact health cost. Maybe another here can give precise details.

Pools of Blood seems so crappy that it's hard to imagine it's as bad as I think.

I know some raid tank SKs who looove it. Lets them take a hit that much over their totals...can save the day if people are aware of it. The monk one acts similarly though...usually have that one on me. It has saved a few wipes here and there....but only since people were aware it was on me. If they don't...it's a waste. I preferred other options.

What role(s) do you plan on taking on eventually with him.....raid MT/OT....group tank...soloer...DPSer...more rounded all around type?

Thanks for the feedback Chimp. Can I have your Terraporter?

Roles...

Definitely not anything raid related. That's what my bruiser is for. Not to mention SK's are more the butt of raid slot jokes than brawlers. I dont think I could stomach the jibes.

Im pretty caster oriented as a player, and I like the evil/dead/necrotic motif. Further, whereas a necro's lifetaps are there to counter Archlich, an SK can actually heal himself with his 6 lifetaps (pretty sure I got that right). I also never seem to get out of leather or cloth, so I was hoping for some plate (SK) and chain (mystic) alternatives.

For both of these classes, I would like to do PuG scenarios. Something less demanding than raiding or grouping with my raid buddies. I want to go out there and show a bunch of strangers that the plate tank they think sucks the most is actually quite incredible in the right hands. I love the SK motif, and it's high time it got some luvins on my alt levelling order. I dont think anyone's gonna say that Mystics suck, but I always hear they suck compared to Defilers. Again, it's time to turn the naysayers on their noses.

Hate line is super nice...especially if you have some points in the Sacrilege MOB disease resist reduction from the Decay line.

Ok . since you won't raid my tips :

the usual 448 INT, then Reaver. After that STR for end-ability, 4/5 in STA, and Hate-line especially 5 points in Deathmarch

I'll vouch for Reaver. It is a must in my opinion, the small percent of health that it drains as opposed to the 2.5% you get back after every spell like ability which include taunts, pet summoning, and clickable attack items such as the Thermal Shocker goes almost unnoticed. I duo with my wife who is a defiler so all she really does is ward and I heal myself on most fights. It even has small raid potiential I think. If your not MT, you don't have to worry about being healed from AoE's leaving your healers to concentrate on the MT/OT, and if you are, well that just a portion of life your getting back while in between wards and heals.

My current spec is that I have 4-4-8 in the INT line of KoS, then in EoF I have Hate down to the siphon (5 in the shield bash, 3 in each taunt, 4 in deathmarch, 5 in uh. . . the other skill. Been a while since I looked), reaving (5 in the base ability, 5 in each that use the lead one as the prereq, and 5 in the Drain Vitae, angled over from the hate line) down to reaver, and I'm working over to the mitigation siphon angled from the reaver line -- 2 more points and I'll have capped the mit siphon, and that will also be all 50 I can put in the EoF side of things.

After that's done I plan to go down STR line to the end for the timers, and then from there. . . I really don't know. I'll only have 9 more oints to play with at that point, so I may just finish the INT line. But then again. . . I'm not there yet so I don't know for sure.
