Turn off alternate models. Alternate models suck. Hard.

We think wood elves look fantastic in alternates, and about 18 years old so Im not sure where you are coming from there.....

Think it might just be you. They don't look old to me in either model set.

What's old to a race that lives a thousand years or more?

Probably facts of skeletal revamp(unibody revamp): -Since many of the player model's faces look like they got botox, they're probably doing something to change the colors and textures to make it look "not just 1 color" and more detailed. -we will probably, most likely, have 3 body types: small, normal, large(it's not 1 unibody type like VG) -instead of fitting 32 different times (16 male 16 female) with armor they only have to fit 6 (3 male and 3 female) imagine having to refit something 30+ times. -there will probably be more fined art and elements to the races logical thinking, probable facts. wood elves look like they have botox and they look like someone made them in clay. hopefully this unibody change will help.

wood elves always looked a bit strange imo.

But i hope that the revamp doesnt't change too much, ogres should still look pretty massive compared to barbarians imo.

And i'am happy how my high elv looks.. well the skin could be a bit more pale but thats all.

The revamp could be a chance for some minor face tweaks but imo there is no need to change the faces too much for the skeletal revamp.

Yeah, I agree, that is scary. But doesn't that more resemble a Renda'Dal from New Tunaria? *shudders*

OP if you could post a screen shot and show what your talking about this thread might lend more toward the right direction. Otherwise your just going to get a lot of opinion based on different graphic settings .. and different character creation choices and option settings.

I have noticed on the settings that I use that some places (with different lighting) make my wood elf look different.

If you guys want to debate soga models vs basic models might be more productive to take it to a thread about that or start one instead of taking it onto any thread that could possibly remotely reference it.

Only time woodelves look strange is in SOGA. The orginal versions look pretty much the way I thought they should (though it would help if there were more expressions besides the current mood sets and bland). Not sure how either model could look old. I suppose it could depend on your graphic settings. (I know on higher graphic settings I can see my what appear to be ribs... even though I don't have a belly button.)

Wood elf females look just fine. Wood elf males on the other hand look absolutely horriblu if you play with your character texure resolution on max (they look better if it is set lower as the detail doesnt show). Someone did a pretty lousy job of doing thier skin texture as with the bumpmapping on they look like a burn victim or someone with a bad case of small pox. Thier skin is all bumpy and pasty like a middle aged gnome, and that is NOT a good thing. I so wish they would change it so it would look normal like the Wood elf female models do...

Anyway... I agree with most of this. Actually, I agree with the guy who posted that picture of Michael Jackson. I tried to make a male woodelf once, and no matter how much I tried to tweak him, he always ended up looking like a tan version of said person. I also think the original models are way too short. Reminds me more of dwarves or gnomes than elves (the way I imagine them, which is based mostly on LoTR), but that's of course a matter of taste. Good thing there is something called alternate models....
