<p> Is there a parser out there that can parse threat and hate?? </p><p>Since Threat seems to have exact numbers, not rounded numbers pushing it, figure there would be something to tell you exactly how much threat and hate you generated during a fight... </p><p>Just wondering... I rarely dps, but can tell you I normally do around 1100. As a tank, I could care less about my dps, though I know it goes towards hate. Guess I just want to see what I parse in THREAT! If that is at all possible.</p><p>I figure there has to be some sort of equation to it, therefore there is probably some way to parse it.</p><p>If not, think it would be fun to see to help us analyze what works and what doesnt as far as a mathematical point of view.</p>

Nope. Agro is the ONLY feild in the game that the devs have refused to be specific on. They fear that if your able to parse your agro you can trivialize the game. So that you can see what spells generate the highest or lowst threat and use them accordingly. Making it near imposible to loose agro off a tank. All we know is 1 dmg = 1 hate. 1 threat = 1 hate. 1 heal = .5 hate. And agro transfer / buffs cap at 50%.

If you were 3rd on hate list, the increased threat positions would put you up top all on its own.</p><p> And i'm thinking Hate points are > damage points for agro. Only based on personal experience... for example. If someone pops a mob for 2k dmg, i can pretty much hold agro with a 1000pt hate taunt</p><p> <img src="http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q127/rockylyon/Skar.jpg" border="0"> </p>

What Controlor put down about damage and threat is straight from a post Lockeye put out some time back. 1pt damage = 1 point hate and 1 point threat = 1 point hate. The only part he wasn't specific on was the heal. He didn't actually say .5 hate for a point of heal, he just said it is somewhat less than 1. Threat amount from a taunt is the same as hate gain from damage dealt. In order to hold aggro on a 2000 point hit from a groupmate you would have to hit the taunt for 1000 points of threat plus 1000 points of damage or some variation of spells, abilities, transfers, etc. in order to keep aggro.

To get back to the original question, no you cannot parse threat. Parsers work by parsing your log (hence the name) looking for specific things, especially numbers. Since when you taunt a mob it doesn't say "you taunt a mob for 900 hate!", you cannot parse it. If that number was exposed somehow you could, but I doubt they will ever do that.

Skar when i said 1 hate = 1 threat i wasnt talking bout hate positions was talking bout like taunts. Hate positions is entirely different. But yah works like you said with hate positions.
