My graphics card is only a ATI Radeon x1500 but there is very little choppy gameplay on it even at high quality, but about every hour the screen turns black and the shadows dissapear even though the options say it's on.

I also have an AMD Athlon 64 dual core processor

1 gb ram

2.00 ghz cpu

i'd suggest that try to set affinity of the processors for the game. To set affinity of the processor follow these steps: 1. Start The launchpad. (but do not hit play) 2. Bring up the task manager (alt-ctrl-del) 3. Find the eq2 job in the "processes" tab. 4. Right click the process and select "Set Affinity" 5. Deselect either (doesn't matter which one) of the cores and hit ok. 6. Close task manager and hit play on the launchpad. Also make sure that the driver version for the ATI Radeon x1500 is Catalyst 6.5 (6698). This is how to uninstall the driver for video card: 1. Click start, then control panel, click on system (if you don't see system on the left switch it to classic view) 2. When you in system click on the hardware tab and then click on device manager. 3. Once in device manager click on Display adapters. 4. Right click on your video card and click on properties. 5. Once in there click on the tab that says driver. Click on Uninstall. Once your current driver is uninstalled please install the driver you have downloaded. In case the issue still persists please post your systeminformation as specified on the link.

i have this bug with all type of videocards (ATI 9800pro, ATI x800xl, ATI x1800xt, NVIDIA 8800gtx) and all type of cpu’s (Athlon XP, Athlon 64, Core2Duo). when i play with my girlfriend the shadows disappear at the same time on two different computers. sometimes after an hour, sometimes after 10 minutes but our screens don`t turn black. the shadows only disappear from one second to another. please fix this. the hardware to play with shadows becomes cheaper and cheaper and more people will be able to play with shadows in the future... the other thread about this issue isclosed for some reason http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=354329

I had the same issues on AMD Opteron (single core) with NVIDIA 7900GT Code 2 Duo (Dual core) with NVIDIA 7900GT Core 2 Duo (Dual core) with NVIDIA 8800GTS all above behaved exactly the same that is shadows were disappearing. In same circumstances as TerminalDogmaCS described in mentioned thread. So doesn't seem this bug is related to 8800 or Dual/single core processors. Maybe you guys who care to get this problem fixed can use new Help->Petition system from in game, and feedback request to get shadows fixed? This and forums is all we can do to get coders look into this I think. I wish you all and my self good luck with getting shadows working Edit: Oh the other topic is closed? Without any official comment. Even as for reason of closing? Hehe can someone answer why? IMO it had valuable informations that could help to fix shadows bug. One would think it would be good to keep such informations in one place.
