Hey guys and gals,

Help me out here.... I am missing a spell and don't know what it is. There is a spell that has "horizontal" ice spikes that I've seen other wizards use. I, to my knowledge, do not have this spell. What is it?

Ice Flame, a lvl 35 spell from Bloodlines pack. It has no upgrades.

Dmg + short-term snare...very short cast range.

If you're already lvl 50+, you might not even bother with it...it's [Removed for Content] by then. I removed it from my hotbar a very long time ago.

If it had an upgrade it would still occupy space on my hotbar at 70.

call me [I cannot control my vocabulary] crazy but I still have Ice Flame on my hotbar. It is however, VERY situational. It's not a spell that you really wanna work into your regular rotation for good dps. But it IS a spell that looks cool, lol Just ask a sage to make it for you man. you dont need bloodlines for it

I use it when nothing else is up, as I have an aversion to sunstrike. And I got a comment regarding it from Sac stuck in my head, which alas I can't repeat here due to foul language

Mareth, u do know that it's dmg won't make a drop of pee's worth of difference, at lvl 70? You might be better off auto-attacking...or just BORING the mob to death

Did Sunstrike traumatize you as a child? It's ok, you can tell us...where did it touch you? Did it touch your wang? You really should tell on people when they touch you there (except for guildies ).

I'm sorry lol...hope u don't mind the banter.

Sunstrike for me hits 729-1326 (ad3). Ice spikes hits GARUNTEED 1102. Ice spikes > Sunstrike at 57 at least.

Mmmkay. At lvl 70, with 658 int, with +120 spell dmg, gettin 836-1470 with Sunstrike, and 1236 with Ice Flame, both at Adept III.

So at 70, SS does slightly less dmg, BUT costs 83 power, vs. 118 for IF. Also has way more range.

So, i guess it's kind of a toss-up. They're both puke, lol.

Yeah, Ice Flame still occupies a slot on my hotbars, and i do still use it when recasts on my better dps spells are down. However, here is something interesting i noticed. I beta-buffed a wizard on pvp test, and had all his spells mastered out. I received a level 53 spell called "Glacial Flame" (no, not the mystic spell called Glacial Flames before someone makes some [I cannot control my vocabulary] comment =P). Anyway, it was a direct upgrade to our level 35 bloodlines spell. I then also beta-buffed a coercer (the other toon i play), to check if his bloodlines spell had also received an upgrade - and i found a level 53 spell called "Mana Cover", which was a direct upgrade to the level 35 "Mana Cloak". So, is it worth speculating that our level 35 bloodlines spells will be receiving an upgrade? I havent seen anything in the test notes.

If the upgrade goes through it moves up quite a bit in the dps per casting time chain.
