Check out there rewards as they stand at them moment on test. Two hand staff for mages? Bah! I know that they are taking away the freehand requirement but they never(very rarely) make up for the lose of the secondary slot on two-handeds. <p>Does anyone know if the +75 spell damage on the staff, work the same as "Bolt of Energy", being normalized to not to squat on AoEs, DoTs, and short casts?</p>

Wish it had +45wis +45int and dropped the sta... +75 spell damage is not the same as Bolt of Energy which reads "Up to" +X damage. When it says Up To you have to divide it by 2 to get the approx. average + damage. So a +75 damage staff is like "Up to +150 spell damage" (Bolt of Energy XXX). Ohhh, Soulfire Staff is where it's at! +24 sta, +46 wis/int, +225 health/power, +75 damage, & +7 disr/focus Plus a damage & heal proc

The +75 Spell damage on the Soulfire is just like BoE stuff, it is normalized on a 3 second cast time. It doesn't actually add 75 spell damage.

<p>The soulfire staff is garbage as well it is nothign more than the daggar of arcane rites and fitz's misty protector with worse stats, on top of that you lose an adornment slot. It has no resists and the staff that drops in labs has better stats, maybee not the same effect, but way better stats. SoE has no clue on how to make a good two hander, maybee one day they will figure out that it has to be twice as good as a one hander. Wand of crystalized plasma FTW if you cant get avatar loot, money says that wand of crystalized plasma does more damage than the soulfire staff. I suck at all of the math but I am sure some one has a weapon effect caculator some where that can prove it.</p><p>Okay I did some math no modifications at all to casting everythign base.</p><p>Soulfire staff </p><p>+75 to spells , okay 3 second normalization means 20 spells per minute means 1500 damage per minte</p><p>373 heat 1.7 times per minute is 634 damage per minute</p><p>total damage per minute is 2134.</p><p> or a dps increase of 35.6 </p><p>Wand of crytalized plasma okay 8% proc for 12 seconds 1.8 times per minute or 21.6 seconds per minute on average</p><p>Now need to find out the required unmodified dps to equal 2134 damage with a 8% modifer for 21.6 seconds. Or we need to get 2134 extra damage in 21.6 seconds or a dps increase of 98.8 for those 21.6 seconds. to figure this out simply divide 98.8 by 8% will give you the dps required to outperform the soulfire with only the wand of crystalized plasma, and this dps number is 1235 dps. </p><p> 1235 is a respectable number to get with no modifications dps wise, however this takes away any secondary item you might equip with a damage proc. And any raid buffs you get will widen the gap making the wand of crytalized plasma better as it will increse damage based on how much damage you are doing.</p>
They have changed Soulfire and Lucanic Staves into a ONE-HANDERS. See Hotfix comments
