I am a Pally first and for most and that probably effects my thinking but I made a Warden to go raiding with guild cause we lacked one I got him to 70 and I went melee specs and cures/ STR/STA. I have been to Labs,HoS,Lyc,FTH, every raid I have parsed between 340-620dps for zone and been 2nd to 4th on heals normally Defiler/Mystics beat me. Should I be able to outheal the Shamans if I go completely away from melee or am I better off sticking with melee style? I have taken gear that basiscally for Bru/Mnk and I run about 600str/740Wis 60%haste 40%dps mods plus berserker procs during raids my melee AA heal accounts for about 16% of my healing and spores 8% tree makes up about 3% since tanks has to be damaged past wards and reactives for our heals to do anything what else are we supposed to do? My guild has top notch healers so its not like I have to worry about anyone slacking ever is there something else I aint thought of as to why I shouldnt melee/heal?

<p>Sounds like you just sort of remade your paladin, but wearing leather ::grin:::</p><p>No reason a raiding Warden can't melee and dps - but you heal better if you are heal spec'd, IMO. The melee spec'd Wardens can answer this best with numbers probably, I'm STA/WIS/INT spec'd.</p><p>I'd say that if you like what you are doing, your guild is happy with your parses, and no one is dying on a regular basis - you've found your raiding niche. No harm, no foul, and no one should tell you different. Raiding is about cooperating with the needs of the whole raid. If you are doing that - yay! </p>

<p>sounds like you should make a wizzy ... nuke the shiot out of everything and then mele the rest of the time.....</p><p>people usually have problems playing a healer when they do it becuz they think its what their raid needs ... not that they wanted to play a healer...??? If you cant cut the bacon .... dont think you can fry it in a pan.</p>

<p>I'm spec'd for healing most of the time and not dps. I've tested the melee specs a time or two and continue to dabble in the idea (though it's getting expensive for resets now lol). Spec'd for crit heals and cures, I only hit the top of the heal parse when in MT group. If you aren't the primary patch healer in MT group, don't expect to out heal anyone. If you've been hitting top 2-3 on the heal parse from outside the MT group, something is wrong. The only way you could get that much healing done outside MT group is if people in your group keep pulling hate. If that's the case, your raid force will have serious problems in other zones. Just my 2cp.</p>

<p>Normal setup on raids is Pal/MT ,Berserker amends target, Dirge,Coercer,Defiler,Templar MT group</p><p>OT group is Me/Warden,Pal or Gaurdian/OT,dirge,templar,mystic,assasin.</p><p>Sometimes i get chucked up into MT group on named but for most part I stay in group 2 I target mt for heals let my group heals take care of OT plus STR4 does about 16% of my heals and spores does 8% so it picks up the slack as well since got 3 healers in our group no need to concentrate on my tank and I look after the MT and attack the mob he is on.</p>
Even if you are full heal spe'd, you have good chances to not be in top healer parse in KoS zones such as Labo because ... nowdays, thoses zones requires few Heals, and usually, a simple shaman can keep your tank up most of the time. But yeah ... on real fights (Read fights that require you to heal full times), you should be in top healer parse, and first most of the times (Or the other Warden of your guild).

I wouldn't worry too much about where you fall in the heal parse hierarchy - a lot of the parse is dependent on factors that are totally out of your control, such as what group you're in, what zone you're in, the particular mob your fighting, the resists of your group members, the gear of the MT, OT, etc, etc, etc.. "Winning" the healer parse sometimes just means that you're in a zone with a lot of AoEing mbos and the people in your group don't have very good resist gear. It's probably human nature to try and turn the order of the heal parse into a reflection of the worth or ability of the healers, but this is largely a mistake. If you're keeping your tank alive, keeping your group alive, and getting people cured then you're doing your job. After looking at hundreds (if not thousands) of healer parses (I spam the fight-by-fight healer parse for our raids), you kind of get a sense of approximately where people should fall given a certain fight in a certain zone with a certain group make-up. It's obvious from the zone-wide parse at the end if someone is slacking, but as far as distinguishing among those that are parsing where they should be, you can't do it. If you're in the top four healers, you're probably doing fine.
