Idea about "magic' carpet

<p>Hi all.. had a silly idea about the 'magic' carpet.. either the quested one or the status bought ones.. Why not add the Fae Floating ability to it? I mean, it suppose to be a flying carpet right? </p><p>Now.. this is just about the carpets.. no disks, or undead/flying mounts. I know it is possible to add it in, how hard it may be is up in the air... Gonna feedback this, but also, wanted to hear any feedback as to the "whys and why nots" of adding this in. Yes, I also think that if a player is hit while on a carpet, floating, that they loss their floating ability, just like the Fae.</p><p>Thanks!</p>

I don't think you'll ever see anything like that added because of balance issues.  Whats the point in having a horse?

Would be a cool thing imho just reduce the speed on carpets by about 20 or so and give float ability I think thats fair <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> that way people who want speed can still get the horses which would be much faster but yet the carpets are still a coolness factor <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>Oooooh... this would be a neat idea.</p><p>To address the balance issue you could do a couple things.</p><p>1.  Make it a second, harder, higher-level quest from the current carpet quest which can be done at 47.</p><p>2.  Make it available for purchase, but similar in cost to the 50% speed horses which come with + stats to melee or magic skills.  Mid teens plat and a good chunk of status.</p>

It drops randomly off trash. I've seen 5-6 drops i one run, and then there not being any at all the next run. With the recent trials to reduce the trash in there it probably got a bit rarer. <p>Speed<>Balance....</p><p>Currently horses add stats, carpets dont the balance is that you get what you pay for.</p><p>in DoF you can do the carpet quest and get a free carpet OR you can build faction with a court in MajDul and earn the right to buy a Dervish Destrider horse which has stat adds in focus, crushing and piercing I believe and is the same speed. You are buying those stats.</p><p>There would be no reason to reduce or increase the speed of either item. They are already balanced. Adding Fae glide makes sense. How illogical is it that an item which is supposed to fly off the ground anyway will givey ou falling damage because it hit the ground and bounced up?</p><p>Add Fae glide please...it should have always been that way on the carpet...if not on the free one then certainly on the ones purchased.</p>

Period. </p><p>But hey why not give the carpet tracking ability too .. it can be a hard quest that takes AA. </p><p>If you want to glide buy parachutes = glide .. be a fae = glide = do EH and get a drop = glide.</p><p>The carpet is a carpet for the dificulty and price it is fine. </p><p>Make a new carpet that drops of wuoshi ... perhaps..</p>

If you're being nitpicky on the the fact everyone calls it a flying carpet, then what you mean to imply is that a flying carpet should fly - which is not the same thing as slowly falling to the ground. You may actually say that falling is quite the opposite of flying! And, if you're being nitpicky on the fact that it's called a flying carpet and it doesn't fly... well, it's not called a flying carpet. It's called the Carpet of El'Khazi (at least the quested one, I don't know about the status one - think it's called Maj'dul Carpet though).  The description says nothing about it being able to fly, and who wants to trust that description anyways! Consider the workings of the carpets for public travel in DoF. They travel over cliffs, water, etc and never touch the ground. The commoner can use those, why would the quested or status purchased versions be less in functionality?? </p>
